I'm cash pay, and need a quick smooth process to do the surgery. I want to use my vacation time from work to have this done, most likely in October. Can anyone please recommend a surgeon in Houston, TX? Thanks!!
Hi! I'm not sure where you are located in Houston, but I'm in Spring. My surgeon is Jason Balette. He runs the Bariatric program at Herrmann Memerial in The Woodlands. He was recommended to me by my primary care doc and my Orthopaedic surgeon. At my consult, he was super friendly and I could tell he truly cared about my well-being and my knowledge of the surgery. I hope you're able to find a doctor you love!
Cash money? In the US? Are you just flippin rich, or what? LOL
There's a gazillion surgeons in Houston. I'm in Sugar Land and used Dr Guillermo Ponce de Leon. He's just a surgeon, but has done lots of sleeves.
If you want things like nutrition help and support groups, I'd recommend going to one of the big bariatric places, like True Results or similar.
Hope you have at least $50k saved up.....surgeon, hospital, anesthesiologist, pathology, labs and radiology.

The $15,000 is usually for the surgery itself. Then there's a hospital fee, surgeon's fee, anesthesiology fee, and fees for pre-op lab work, pathology specimen testing, and (optional) swallow study and postoperative nutritional counseling.
Some people have negotiated to ensure that both the surgery and all of the fees will amount to less than $15,000. However, you need to call multiple bariatric surgeons in Houston to find out if one would be willing to negotiate a package deal.
The vast majority of cash patients on this forum pay $3,000 to $5000 to be sleeved in Mexico.

I am in Houston area up at Kingwood. I drove Eagle Pass TX where the Endobariatric van picked me and 2 others up and took us to the hospital across the border. Dr Alvarez charges $8500 but includes everything including 2 nights in the hospital. Check out the AskDrA show on YouTube. He has about 55 episodes answering many questions. I had him perform the surgery on my daughter 4 months before me. We are both doing great.
Dr. Sherman Yu will be performing my procedure. Even if private pay, he still requires some pre-op counseling and weight management classes. If you want a quick turnaround, I have a friend who used Dr. Irfan Wadiwala in North Houston and had great results. She was pleased.
I'm in Houston also in the Kingwood area. I went to Dr. Almanza in Tijuana and couldn't be happier with the results. Before spending 50k, try researching your options across the border. I think you'll see that the vast, vast majority of Mexico sleevers would recommend their individual surgeon every day and twice on Sunday.
I've having mine done in Dallas in September with Dr. McCarty. He does a less invasive procedure that is only 2 incisions and a 4 hour inpatient procedure. It's $12k all in. He's got great testimonials, so I'm excited to go to him. Another perk? No pre-op diet!
