Is this a NSV?

I went to have blood drawn this morning. In the past, blood was always drawn from my right arm. Always. They'd look at my left arm, put the tourniquet on, slap the veins, push and prod, the take off the tourniquet and put it on the right arm.

Today, she put the tourniquet on the left arm and, voila! Got that sucker in one stick!

Could this be considered a NSV? because I think I dont have as much blubber over my veins anymore!? Woo hoo!

It's a NSV!

As an aside, I've always been a difficult stick due to tiny rolling veins combined with lots of subcutaneous fat. In fact, those vessel illuminating devices such as the Venoscope and/or the Accuvein could not locate my veins anywhere other than the antecubital area (a.k.a. fold of the arm near the elbow).

Now, after 100 pounds lost, my hand veins are showing for the first time EVER. In addition, the phlebotomy techs are now able to successfully stick me for blood draws on the first attempt.

Yep, an easier stick and more visible veins would constitute a big NSV.

I am a very hard stick also, they usually have to draw from my hand, im excited to read your post, maybe when i have my surgery it wont be as difficult to give blood

I would have never thought of that as a nsv but hallelujah that it is!!! I'm also a very hard stick. Small, deep and they roll!! Always digging to get a vein ugh!! So happy to hear this and excited for you!!

I've also noticed veins on the backs of my forearms....eww. I think it's a combo of lost fat and thinning, old lady skin!

Definitely is. Both of my daughters are phlebotomist. They said it is sometimes difficult to find veins on obese patients.

same same with me.. even harder when you are dehydrated
