Hello all! I'm new here. My name is Xyya and this is my gastric sleeve story.
Last year I had the procedure and boy did it take a while. When I was sixteen I started thinking about getting some form of operation because my weight was spiraling out of control due to limited mobility because I had dislocated my leg in 2012. I went to a doctor and they said they could try to get the surgery done before I was 18 but it ended up that my insurance wouldn't cover it.
So I tried another doctor. At this point I was 17. He said he could definitely get it done before I was 18, no problem. A whole bunch of tests later and he said that he couldn't preform the operation.
SO. By this time I was 18 years old and I went back to my original doctor to have the surgery done. I was put through so many unnessecary tests that I thought I'd never get it done. But finally I got my date and I was ready to have my sleeve gastrectomy.
I had the procedure done May 15, 2015 and I was in a lot of pain. I don't remember much but I do remember saying that given the option I'd never do it again. I have since changed my mind.
Here's where it gets better.
A few months go by and I go from 375lbs to 275 lbs, 100lbs down. BUT no one decided to look at my medications and think oh hey, she's on too much lithium for her weight. So in July of 2015 I went into renal kidney failure from lithium toxicity. I was put into a coma, had dialysis, got pneumonia, my central line got infected then my new central line got infected etc. Basically it was a whole clusterfuck. They also stretched my stoamch out while tube feeding me and paralyzed my vocal cord while intubating me a second time. Finally about a month later I was out of the hospital and stable. I went home with a PICC line and a month later it was out.
Now, August 4, 2016, I am happy, healthy and stable. I gained some weight back but I'm working on getting it back down and reaching my goal weight.
This story could have been way longer but thank you for sticking with me and reading this far. If you have ANY questions at all PLEASE feel free to ask. I'm not shy about anything and I would really like to help people.
Thank you and remember, you are gorgeous no matter your weight.
