Hello everyone! I've been a part of this site for 4 years and finally had my surgery 10 months ago from today!
When I saw my Bariatric Surgeon for the first time, I weighed 355 lbs. I had to do 6 months with the nutritionist before my insurance would cover the surgery and got down to 314 lbs in the time. Since my surgery, I've lost 100 lbs bringing me to a total of 140 lbs lost since late March of 2015!
I feel amazing and am striving to continue to lose weight and inches. The last time I checked (back in May I believe) I had lost 60" off of my body so I'm sure it's a few more since then. I started out wearing a size 28 jeans that honestly were much too small so I was really more like a size 30 (ugh) and very tight 5x tops. I'm down to size 16 shorts this summer and xl tops!
I am SO close to Onederland I can almost taste it - just 14 more lbs to go! I'm 5'6" and 28 years old so my goal is to get down to 170. But really, I'd like to get down to 150 so when I'm 2 years post op and have that small weight regain that most sleevers have, I'll still be healthy.
I'm currently in a accelerated nursing school so my time is taken up with Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, English, and Algebra this 10 week term. That means I don't have a lot of time for myself, including exercise. BUT, I'm going to make a goal this month starting tomorrow to get at least a few minutes of exercise in most days of the week.
Weight loss slows down for most anywhere between 6 months and a year post op, so for all of you lovely new members, my advice is to WORK YOUR BUTTS OFF. Seriously. I know my stomach would be much smaller by now if I had been doing some cardio and resistance training. I'd probably be in a large or medium shirt by now. But I'm not simply because I don't make the time. Do it. Make the time. Have a support system. Cook up some fresh food and freeze them into little individual servings so you save time and money.
If I were buying groceries for only myself and my toddler, I'd probably spend $40 a week. Even that is high, but it's because we both love yogurt and milk lol. I hope you're all doing great!
