Preop diet and alcohol?

Tonight is the first time me and my bf have had the opportunity to go out since having kids 4 years ago. I am having surgery on the 26th with a lenient 2 week diet. Just your basics, protein drinks and lean meats. Since its still 11 days away, do you think it would matter if i drank tonight? Keep in mind I don't often or a lot when i do.

Personally, I wouldn't. The night before I started my Pre-Op diet my wife and I were going to go out to a very nice restaurant where I planned to indulge in whatever I wanted. Unfortunately that very evening my father almost died - we couldn't wake him up. He finally came around and my wife was there with me,as well as my sister and my Dad's sitter. He did pull through, but by the time we felt it was okay to leave it was around 8:30 and we missed our dinner date.

I started the pre-op diet the next day and was on it for 5 weeks. This process was as much mental as it was physical for me. I wanted to conquer. For a moment I rationalized going out that night instead since my pre-op diet would last 5 weeks, but I didn't, and it felt good that mentally I was able to overcome the urge.

I really don't think it would hurt you, but usually justifying an action the first time makes it easier to justify actions later.

The night before I went on my pre-op diet, I ate and drank like a maniac LOL! It was my way of closing the door to all my eating habits. A going away party for my fat haha! My pre-op was only 5 days. My advice would be to go ahead and have a nice night, eat and drink what you want, and then focus on your pre-op diet and surgery. Good Luck!

I drank the night before my pre op diet....my family had a huge get together and partied it up... I was told a 10 day pre op but i have chose to start it earlier...this is a very mental thing...accepting the loss of food...we use food for everything so I know I will struggle so I started early so if I slip it is not in my 10 day pre op....Go let your hair down!

Hello all! I definitely let my hair down and by that i mean about 4-5 drinks. Lol it was a nice evening. One week from today i will be sleeved!
