    Default I'm in trouble

    Hi Guys,

It's been quite a while since I've been on this forum. Hope all are well! I just passed my 2 year surgiversary and I'm up 20 lbs since my lowest weight, which was not even at my goal. I'm feeling out of control eating and eating a lot of crap, especially sugary food.

I went to my surgeon yesterday and she advised to go back to the beginning and stick with the plan and also to get some support help. That's why I'm here!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Susan

Not to sound flip at all here since I just had to come to the same realization after gaining about 10 pounds but you know what to do .... cut out the sugary foods and the crap as you state. I work from home and it started to become really easy to just pick and graze all day - grab this - grab that and before I knew it ugh .... I amped up on the protein shakes and got vigilant on getting active a bit during the day and taking my nightly swims and watching my carbs and I got back to under my goal weight within a month and a half. Good luck

Take it slow and one day at a time, remember its a lifestyle change. You can do this, you know you can and you have done it before. Heck go old school and post your before pictures up on the foods and in your car to remind yourself of how far you've come and "breaking" your lifestyle change isn't worth it and you wont miss those sugary treats. If that doesn't help, find healthy alternatives to those sugary treats. Keep your head up and take it one day at a time..

    Hey, Susan -- Ann here.

I'd do exactly what your medico advised -- cold turkey everything that's doing you in now. Go back to a high protein diet (shakes if you can stomach them) long enough to get your sleeve's restriction back. It WILL come back!

Then eat what and how much you were eating back in the day when you were losing well.

You can't eat in a "maintenance way" to lose weight again. Would be nice if it worked. It doesn't.

You do NOT have to lose rapidly. In fact, the more I learn about rapid weight loss, the less impressed I am by all the news that it just f**ks your metabolism.

You could lose a pound or two a week -- that'd be amazing. In a few months the extra weight would be gone. And this time around you'll have the added knowledge of what to avoid / minimize in order to maintain well.

Bottom line -- losing weight and maintaining weight are two very different animals. At least they have been for me.

    Very best to you!

When I had a temporary uptick, I found cutting out all carbonated beverages...every single one....for three months helped kickstart weight loss again.

Hi Bob - Thanks for the advice but I haven't had any carbonated beverages since my surgery. According to my doctor it's a no no.

I gained a couple of pounds about a month ago which scared the you know what out of me since I'm still in the early stages. I figured that meant I needed to make a change in what I was doing. I did, and since then I've been back on track. You have already been here so you know what to do to make it happen again. I'll keep you in my prayers.

    Starting pre-op diet weight: 357
    Surgery date weight: 337
    Goal weight: 150
