Lymphedema

I have Lymphedema in feet, ankles and legs that make my knees painfully irritating, really bad. I take Hydrochlorothiazide daily; or I'm suppose to. But I swell to extremes that I can't wear shoes or they'll be uncomfortably tight. Around my ankles I have eczema. I assume from low circulation. I use Clobetasol ointment for that. But I'm wondering if someone else has this or these issues and what is your remedy?

Hi Krys,

I had a few episodes of vascular edema, I was also prescribed a low dose of Hydrochlorothiazide, was asked to keep legs elevated when it flared up and wore compression stokings for several weeks, I actually started wearing them again after I get home from the gym. They are a pain to put on and take off put I like wearing them. I found some cool looking ones on Amazon. I also had eczema on my feet, and I knew it had to do with my feet, ankles and legs being swollen but the doctor never corraborated that. At one point prescrived some fungus cream that never worked. I found a cream for psoriasis which I have used and it helped tremendously. Since I have lost weight and have kept a pretty clean diet I have not had a problem. I have not had an episode since March, thank goodness, which is when I self imposed a strict liquid diet.

I'm unable to use creams. But as far as a liquid diet, I can say that I have previously consumed the Master Cleanse and that helped as well as lose a few pounds. I also have compression stockings.

Are u pre or post op? I am day 16 and edema returned for first time yesterday. I just elevated legs and then out it o my to do to call and ask if I should start hcl again since I get in all my fluids. I have compression type socks I would wear before if it gets bad...mu e is not to the point t of. Ot wearing shoes just swollen calfskin and ankles. I onky wear Danske to so that might be why lol

Just elevate your feet and take all of the medications you are supposed to be taking.. Just be careful and take it easy

I'm post-op 5 yrs with weight gain. In the process trying to get RNY procedure.
