When was the last time you pooped? I only weight myself after I have pooped and showered. With as little as I am eating I go once a week, usually thursday-saturday and drink a Smooth Ease Tea to get things moving along. I have found that if I weight myself before I gain a couple lbs but then after I go I have lost 3-5lbs. Maybe keep this in mind if that could be your problem as well. I did hit plateaus every now and then and would maintain or gain a lb or 2 over 2 weeks but then start dropping again. Short plateaus but it was discouraging at first till i noticed a pattern so I didn't get disappointed, just realized I was not going to change much for a couple weeks. You might notice the same pattern or your own personal pattern as the months tick by. I averaged 10 lbs loss a month.

The answer to your question is (besides following your dr's recommendations of course) is trial and error. Try a little and see how you feel. Everyone is so different, and it is helpful to start listening to your body. It helps you be more attuned and aware when you start trying to maintain. You are doing so great!! Those stalls suck! lol

I thought I was mentally prepared for that stall, but all those negative feelings that I'd get pre-sleeved came rushing back. I am so happy my sleeved tummy will keep me from seeking comfort foods at this very moment. Yesterday, I could barely down a tablespoon of tuna salad I had prepared. Now I know what all y'alls meant about that feeling in the chest, it just seemed that the one table spoon was stuck there for hours. Then again, when I added chocolate pudding to my cottage cheese to give it a change, I was able to down the whole 1/3 cup no problem.

Could it be that I am not ready for thicker mushy things such as mashed sweet potatoes, or creamed tuna salad, or finely chopped salmon? should I stay on liquidity foods, and protein shakes a lot longer?

Thank you al y'all's for comments and words of encouragement.

I had a great day at the museum and visit with my daughter at dinner at a swanky restaurant (a few bites of salmon and pesto sauce yum! and some mashed potato) despite my mini melt down. It is just funny how we can be mentally prepared, but triggers can come from anywhere. I'm very fortunate to have a community to turn to when that happens.

    Blessings to all y'all's.

    1. Three week stall.
    2. If you MUST weigh everyday, get an app that shows your weight loss TREND over time. I got stuck for almost all of month six - up and down the same two pounds. Finally out of it, I hope. But my app shows that trend steadily going down, even though there are some up days. I use True Weight.
    3. Muscle is more dense than fat. Recomposition will look like your weight loss is slower, but your tape measure and your clothes will speak the truth.
    4. It took me five months to stop obsessing over the rapidity of my loss. Now I know that as long as I do the right stuff, it will happen. Same holds true for everyone.

Even with the "guy factor" I stalled too, several times, - and even gained. It's all normal. But when it starts coming back off - and it will - yipee!!! What a ride!!!

I was like you: at 3 weeks, in a stall, thinking "again a failure"....trying to be positive but looking too much at the scale!

I will be at 5 month in ten days, I gained 3 kgs last week because of my corticoid treatment. I must say that I was expecting it (not my first rodeo..), but usually before the sleeve it would have been 6 kgs in one week!! So I'm just thinking that may be my goal weight won't be reached at 12 month, but 13 month..but I have to deal with my health first and weight loss will follow when I'm better!

At some point you will accept that the sleeve will help and that losing is here for good. Just relax and stay positive! take care!

I agree that you should just hang in there. Don't stress and just let it all happen. Continue to do what you need to do and the weight will start coming off again. I had several stalls and week three for me was a two week event of no loss. Just trust the process.

Tomorrow is 3 months out for me and I'm down 55 pounds. Slowly but surely - it's working.

Just FYI - I'm stalling this week and even went up 1/2 pound. No biggie and no worries. It will go back to dropping in due course.
