Allergies??

I haven't been sleeved yet but I have a question for the diabetics who have been sleeved. I have terrible allergies to pollen and other things and have started to get some food allergies. Ive been diabetic for over 10 years and previously had no allergies. I have heard after the sleeve these get better. Has anyone experienced this? Would love to know if that was also something to look forward to after surgery.

I've been insulin dependent diabetic for 40 + years. I've only had 1 injection since being sleeved. This may change as genetics play a role. I still test daily and as often as I always did.

I also have chronic Bronchial Asthma since childhood. Allergies abound. I haven't noticed a big change, except I don't seem to be using the rescue inhaler as much.

I hope this helps...I would recommend you present your surgery team and PCP with these questions as everyone is different.

While I am not diabetic, I was pre-diabetic at the time I was sleeved a year ago. I also suffered from severe allergies in the form of chronic hives. I needed to take multiple antihistamines (Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, Benadryl, Xyzal, Chlor-Trimeton, etc.) to control the hives or else my throat would swell. The hives were a daily occurrence.

I'm glad to say that I have not had any hives since the beginning of the year. Therefore, my allergies have improved substantially, as has my quality of life.
