I am having the Sleeve surgery in either July or August. I have a fatty liver that looks like I've been drinking for years. I don't drink at all. Will having the sleeve help with the fatty liver?

I don't have a lot of information, but I would think so. The pre-op diet reduces the fatty liver short term. It makes sense that weight loss would further aid in this. I'm sure irreversible damage can be done if morbidly obese or a high fat diet. I'm not a medical professional though. Anyone?

I had fatty liver disease when I had surgery. I had surgery on 3/17 of this year and have lost 42 pounds so far. I no longer have a fatty liver thank you Jesus! My bloodwork no longer shows any problems. You will be healthier after surgery.

I have fatty liver with stage 2 fibrosis. Hoping wls will help reverse the damage already done to my liver. Can anyone else tell me if they had this problem and did wls help with this.

When I had my surgery my surgeon said I have some degree of cirrhosis and that I will need to see a liver specialist. He said around 4 months after surgery so I could heal up which I hope means it’s not horrible stage. Though he did say that this surgery will help slow the process and I have heard fatty liver can be reversed.

Yes. I have NASH (Fatty Liver) diagnosed in 1989 by biopsy. I did the pre op and it shrunk, but its in great shape now almost 6 months out. No pains.

Was your fatty liver NASH or just simple fatty liver? Did you have fibrosis of your liver? How long before your bloodwork was normal?
