Hello I just writing for encouragement I had my gastric sleeve since 2013 and I feel that I didn't loose the weight I expected to and now I feel that I can eat anything and never feel really feel full. What advice can you give me.
First of all, fullness is not something you should strive for. Eating until we were full is a big part of how we got fat. It is one of the worst eating habits we had and one that we need to get rid of. I had to relearn to eat just until satisfied, not full. If I feel full I know I overate and I make sure I eat less the next time. Lesson mostly learned since I've only felt full a dozen times or so in the last 2 years. I can eat anything, too, and if I ate what my sleeve allowed I would be regaining. My sleeve did its job helping me lose weight, but it's only my head and conscious choices that keep me successful at this point.
As for not losing what you want, are still eating on plan? Protein first? Staying away from simple carbs? Getting 60-80g protein? 64+oz water? (more is better-I get 80-100oz) What are your calories and carbs? Personally I don't track these things, but if I wasn't satisfied with my loss or if I Started to regain I certainly would start tracking so I knew where I needed to make changes.
Just curious, what was your starting weight/BMI and what is it currently? Have you consulted with your surgeon or nut for their suggestions?
Don't give up. There was a reason you had the surgery and you can still be successful. Kindle gave excellent advice about using the sleeve and feeling full. I was told to always under eat the sleeve that feeling full wasn't the goal, it was to be satisfied. This forum is an excellent place to get support. Take it one meal at a time, count calories if that helps, and track your exercise.
I feel your pain! It's really tough. Losing comes a lot easier early on. I hit goal and that was so much easier than it has been to maintain.
My advice is that the battle is won and lost at the grocery store. If I don't have it in the house, I can't eat it, so no chips, cookies, ice cream, etc. Clean out your cupboards and fridge!
I've also discovered that eating early in the day more than I think helps me to be less hungry at night when I'm more inclined to want to eat crap.
Another thing that helped me after I had hip replacement surgery was to be active multiple times per day with walks. I took 3 2-mile walks per day and it seemed to have kick started my metabolism versus one much more bigger workout.
interesting how the 3-2 mile walks kick started your metabolism. My own experience seems to be that after I went with more "gentle" work outs like yoga, I seem to have put on weight!! For me, its about the balance between working out my head (yoga, hiking, walking) and working out my body (cardio and weights)
I hope all went well with your hip replacement surgery.
