Same thing is happening to me right now. Got to 205 and now I'm at 217 and I had my surgery on 09/2012 so we are pretty near the same time. Unfortunately for me I kind of know what's going on or at least what I think it is. I moved to Vegas, which caused me to go out almost every weekend, most of the the alcohol is involved which is pure calories, and I don't eat not nearly as good as I once did. Just recently started getting myself back to my roots so hopefully I can shed this extra weight back off. I really think once I get focused back on eating right I'll balance back out. Keep me updated on how you're doing...interested to see what works for you.

Hi - I'm still a newbie in your eyes and this scares me beyond belief that I will regain the weight, because when I dieted in the past, I could never keep the weight off. And hearing all the recent news about people that lose weight, whether naturally or WLS, end up gaining it back; it's discouraging to think I'm going to keep my weight off long term. The only thing I can offer is to get back to basics. Are you consuming all your protein? Are you eating your protein first? Are you getting in all your water? Are you exercising? Maybe keep a food journal for a couple of weeks and see how much you are really consuming. Sometimes we can graze and not really realize we are doing it. At least you are realizing it now, before you hit 20, 30 or more pounds regained.

I've gained like 12 in the last year. Surgery was 4 years goo next month. Mine is more due to messing with meds for hypothyroidism which is now off the charts horrible. I'm just upping my protein shakes big time and no eating after 7 at nite other than maybe a sugar free popsicle.

If this doesn't stop I am seriously considering a revision to the mini bypass in the very near future. I am going to give my doctor another month to stabilize my meds then decide.

My surgery was Dec 2011, I hit goal in Feb 2013 (lost 150#) and I am about 5# over goal right now; I used to be under goal. I think this is a fairly normal thing. I continually have to work off those 5-10# starting in 2015 (I actually got a little underweight in 2014!). This is normal.

My advice from my own experience is don't get into a diet mentality like "I must lose X pounds in X number of weeks". I have found that mindset triggers old bad patterns. Instead I look at it like a lifestyle adjustment. Too much wine - oops -cut back, refocus on the basics (protein and hydration first!!) and the trend reverses and I SLOWLY work off those 5-10# without stress or worrying about a timeframe.
308# 12/1/2011 Start of Preop Diet
300# 12/12/11 Lapband to Sleeve revision
    158# Feb 2013 - GOAL lost 150# 14 months post op
150# 10/14/2013 - Plastics Dr Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico; removed 5.5# of skin
140# Apr 2014 - maintaining 168# weight loss currently. Very happy with my sleeve and plastics results!

I am in the same boat. I was at 134 which was still 9 lbs above my goal wt of 125, but now am 143. I am worried this will continue as well. I am thinking I will never get back to where I was, let alone to my goal.

Please don't be discouraged by all this. I have maintained (approximately) 150# loss for over 3 years now!!!! I have been obese or overweight my whole life, so in spite of this ongoing "challenge" - the sleeve has been a godsend for me! I am now a fit, normal sized woman - woo hoo!!!!

Thank Aaron for sharing. While sitting here I was thinking. I spent a most of 2 1/2 years drinking protein drinks and eating solid as I could or needed to. I have never ate so much tuna and salmon in my life...lol I think now that I am so far out from my surgery date my stomach has stretch a little being I am trying to get my protein in my eating instead of drinking Premier Protein which was giving me 30g of protein per drink. Maybe going back to more liquids than actual food will help. I will keep you posted

I can empathize. One thing that I might share with you is that as a result of having the surgery and being much thinner, my metabolic rate has decreased. I had an RMR at the surgeons office before the sleeve and the calorie count at that time was 2000 just to maintain my then overweight body---Now, it's only 1400. Although I exercise probably 6 days a week, the battle seems to be won in the kitchen and not in the gym. Some people try the pouch reset diet, I find that my fitness pal is helpful (but don't pay attention to the calories added when you exercise or you won't lose!!) If you can, stick to a low carb, calorie restricted diet (Not sure what your RMR is but mine is like 1300 cal to lose weight even when I exercise strenuously for 6 days)

    Same question as Pam...
I'd like to ask about having an RMR when I see my surgical team next week.

Don't be too worried Stacy! Just stay focused and you'll do great. My doc had originally told me I'd be lucky if I lost enough weight to be at 240 and I got down to 205 now I'm at 217. The goal weight I set for myself was 215. I just relaxed a bit too much on my eating and working out. I know lots of people at the same amount of time out from surgery who haven't put on any weight since almost 4 years ago. I blame myself on this one just because of the diet I was eating. I can tell you my pouch is definitely still working with keeping me from going crazy. Good luck to you on your journey!
