    Default Insurance won't pay

Well my insurance won't cover Gastric Sleeve unless I have Diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnea. Doesn't matter that I have very very high cholesterol despite meds. I am so short of breath with the extra weight,I do have asthma. I need spinal fusion and a knee replacement the weight is causing so much pain, I have stress incontinence, depression from pain and weight gain. A lot of my medications caused weight gain and made me so hungry that I stopped taking them. I am so upset now I guess I will have to try Qsymia which my insurance won't cover either. I have yo yo dieted and when I would lose 30-40 lbs my pain was more tolerable. Also all my family members on my dads side of the family had uncontrolled cholesterol and all passed away before the age of 59 my dad was 58. [I] will be 60 in July and worry constantly. Sorry for the rant. BTW I have Independence BC of Pa.

My insurance wouldn't cover WLS under any circumstance, no matter what comorbidities I had. So I saved up for almost 3 years and had VSG at Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. Easy, pain free recovery, back to work in 7 days and lost 100 pounds. That was over 2 1/2 years ago. Best money I ever spent and would gladly have paid double.

So if you really want to get WLS, it is possible. Cut back on any "luxury" expenses (movies, eating out, travel, new clothes, gifts, etc....I didn't take a vacation for 3 years), start a savings plan, take out a personal loan, put it on a low interest credit card, use your tax return, etc.

My insurance would not cover it no matter what. I refinanced my house to get the money. I'm so glad I did. I figured it was up to me to do everything in my power to stop this roller-coaster ride of following in my parent's footsteps and dying around this age. This is also what I keep telling myself now on the days when I struggle.

    Surgery date weight: 337
    Goal weight: 150

Hello, sorry to hear that but I've heard a lot of similar problems with insurances. As an alternative, if you cannot solve this, you can try to have the procedure abroad, usually in Mexico there are affordable and high-quality packages. You cand see Placidway's offers or contact me for more information. Any advice, support, information you need, do not hesitate to ask. It is really important to be aware of many opportunities and then choose the best one. Good luck and I'm waiting for news. Good ones!

I am 60 am in not in a position to refinance my home as my husband is very ill and I am unable to work full time because of my back injury I am so depressed. As far as Mexico that is not even an option, we just had 2 patients in our hospital that returned from having the sleeve done in Mexico and one required 2 surgeries to repair bowel involvement and the other came back with a massive infection. She is on a 6 week course of IV antibiotics and not improving. I wish there was a way to fight the insurance for other causes that affect my health

My work provided UHC coverage rejected my Sleve 2 years ago, and only now that I'm 65 and on Medicare, is it covered. Would
you be in the position to consider going on Social Security at age 62, in order to have coverage for this procedure?

Are you on disability with? If you are you have medicare available and they will pay for it. At age 60 with obesity, and the other things you mentioned, it sounds like you would approve you. It is much quicker to get disability when we are older.
