Congratulations and keep up the good work love hearing success stories
It's been over a year since my surgery and I still feel good about how much less I am able to eat. Just two nights ago I had one slice of pizza and I was full to the point that I felt like I was going to throw up. Used to be every Sunday I would eat a whole large pizza washed down by two liters of Sprite.
I am just a few days from surgery, and can only tolerate sipping about a quarter cup of water, tea, broth, or a protein shake before I feel a cramping burning sensation in my gut. As soon as I feel it I stop and walk it off. Actually, just the anticipation makes me a little anxious, and start taking tinier sips. I cannot imagine what type of alarming signals my stomach will be sending me with real food!!!

"Today is another day to get it right!"
I am Aussieroo's wife and my husband is not aware i am posting this but i felt i needed to address the above comment
SomeGuyJeff perhaps before commenting especially negatively you should read the context of the post- my husband when he stated "until they start eating properly" the conversation was regarding when starting solid food opposed to fluids and now puree that he is currently on. From what i have seen from OTHER people on this forum, this forum is to support and encourage people and yes some times the truth needs to be said but there is also a nice way for that to be said that doesn't make someone who is trying feeling like c**p...
From a wife of someone who has recently had a sleeve i admire everyone who has had the courage to change their journey in life..well done and thank you to everyone that is encouraging and supportive, this forum is great.....
take it as youd like but there was nothing negative about the comment. back to your/your husbands comment "I have this lingering doubt that the surgery may not be effective.... Seems like a lot of people have that concern until they start eating properly.."
as to doubts about the surgery 'being effective'...there are many i have spoken to, who have had WLS and those who have not and are trying to lose.... but continue to make poor food decisions (not eating properly). these decisions will not stop you from gaining weight. i know someone who was sleeved and continues to eat junk foods that are high in sugars and other carbs, including alcohol in large amounts, as well as foods that are somewhat widely suggested not to eat like pastas, and she has lost some weight but nothing when compared to others with whom she was sleeved. being sleeved or having some other surgery is by no means the end-all-be-all to weight loss as evidenced by those who have regained the weight. this, in the end as i have discovered , is just a tool in the weight loss equation.
that ties directly into the comment. not everyone realizes that there is more to the weight loss than just having surgery. you need to make decent choices. for that i am sorry that you were offended that i was implying that if you constantly make poor choices you will not end up meeting whatever your weight loss goals are.
