Default Stomach discomfort, can't eat much

For several months I've been having a little more stomach discomfort than usual - I had frequent GERD before my sleeve & for a while it seemed better. Maybe for less than a year.
Now I'm having frequent stomach discomfort, have to carry tums with me everywhere because I get these attacks of heartburn & pain.

Meal time is tough. I no longer worry that I'm eating too much! If I have a cup of food at a meal, I'm praying I can keep it down. I probably lose it at least every other day, sometimes more. Anybody else have this experience, this far out of being sleeved? I gained 13 pounds back after my lowest weight, but now it's going back down again. I'm losing a pound a week again.

I don't know whether to see my doctor about it or just leave it go unless it gets worse.

Luann, so sorry to hear about your discomfort, and I certainly hope you check in with your doctor sooner than later. While I appreciate all the sage advice from folks here, it would not be my first resort if I had an urgent health concern.

Thanks for your post. I too experience a lot of discomfort from eating. I believe its' because of improper eating for me. I've gained 20lbs. Getting back to basics now and going to see a nutritionist. I honestly don't know how to eat. I hope you see your doctor and feel better.

There's a thread on another forum about this topic. Several people were converting to bypass because their GERD had gotten progressively worse, even years out from VSG. A couple things I would suggest to help control the GERD and rule out ulcers/gastritis....

    1) Google diets for ulcers and follow those rules for a couple weeks. There's all kinds of foods that are good or bad to eat if you have ulcers.
    2) eat smaller meals. A cup is a lot of food. 1/2 cup may consistently stay down better. Eat more frequently if you have to.
    3) besides the tums, start taking a PPI or H2 blocker every day for at least 2-3 weeks.

I sometimes get flare ups of pain (but never vomited) and those are the things I do. Makes me think mine is a gastritis issue rather than GERD. Especially since the flare ups happen after consuming too much coffee or alcohol or too many sweets.

A cup of food seems to be a lot. Maybe go back to the basics.

Thank you all for the kind words & advice.
I have that nurse affliction, where I am much better at giving advice than following it myself. :/ A cup of food, sigh, well I use the small plate and what fits inside a measured cup doesn't look like a lot of food to me. But maybe it is, I don't know.
I am on a PPI, plus H1 and H2 blockers. Not all due to my stomach discomfort, but because my doctor was trying to decrease my horrible skin rashes & the nasty eczema flare i've had since last summer. I've been really sick with it. She & an allergist both think it's likely an autoimmune disease at this point. Diagnosing something like lupus is complicated & often takes years. I just started improving drastically over the past 6 weeks or so for the skin flare, found a new dermatologist. I actually had to start taking a med given for transplant patients, my inflammation was that bad. 3 phototherapy treatments a week, plus labwork constantly to monitor. I feel like the professional patient, all I do is go to the doctor (plus caught the flu a couple weeks back). I'm exhausted with it all, I figure I'm not in immediate danger since I'm able to keep down most meals, hydration, no rapid heartbeat / lightheadedness etc.
In other words, I suck as a patient but just wanted to hear if others more than a year out were struggling. I'll make an appointment, I just so hate being in the doctors office any more than I already am. Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate all your posts.

Donna, I think weight gain is more common than we like to think after the sleeve.
I think a lot of the experienced sleevers move on to other things, don't post, sure don't admit to gaining 20 pounds. You are brave.
I am sitting at 133# right now, haven't updated my ticker but I should.
