Default 2 months out and I still eat like a sick cat :-(

Why is it that im two months out ( a few days over two months) And I STILL cant eat?? Like literally a few bites of ANYTHING and Im tapping out!! At first I was super happy, but now I am worried?? :-/

Did anyone else have this going on at this stage?? Dont get me wrong! I am HAPPY I can NO LONGER PIG OUT, but come on, can I at least get in a whole chicken breast before I am painfully full?? I have wasted SO much money on food that I never finish!! That is the part that is killing me... My brain hasnt caught up to the part that my stomach is itty bitty now!!! HELP!
For the first time yesterday, I got in 34 oz of water. Im doing the worst on water and protein and believe me I am trying!!! Someone offer advice please!

    Thanks!

I had the same issue at that time. I still cant eat an entire chicken breast and I'm 7 months out. It is very hard to change our mindset. I still feel bad about how much food I end up throwing out and the cost.

As for water, download "Water your body" app, it will chime off every hour on the hour to remind you to drink water. You are only 2 months out and keep in mind your sleeve is still swollen and may only be able to hold 3-4 oz now. So as for wasted food, you must not like left overs???? I can eat off my meals at least 2-3 times. Saving me a lot of money. I'm over a year out and can't eat a whole chicken breast. Measure/weigh your food until you can eye how much you can eat. No need to worry, make sure you are getting in your protein even if you have to drink it. I still have one protein shake a day for breakfast. You are doing fine.

Well, we have to be realistic here, out stomach size was reduced by about 80%. A whole chicken breast is a whole lot in one sitting for anyone who had the surgery. I find that liquids will go down easier and I mostly eat that. Soups and protein shakes, smoothies etc. I am just happy to be in control of what I consume. Hang in there and focus on the reward.

    Hey TxBeauty85,

Ima kinda gonna repeat myself from another forum, but thought I share because my surgeon's office has been pretty adamant about me understanding that I will not be able to eat the same amounts of food as I am used to, from day one.

I met with my pre-op surgery nurse this morning, she recommended that I buy a couple of stage two baby food jars and use jars as the measurement for what my stomach is going to let me stuff in there for at least the first six months and even longer. She also recommended that I eat dark meat chicken which is more tender and easier to pass, and of course fish.

Also recommended that I start weaning off raw vegetables and salads, and start baking, steaming or boiling sweet potatoes or squash or whatever vegetables I want to eat, and start smashing them into mush, just so I start getting used to doing that religiously, again emphasizing that I concentrate on proteins first and foremost and using the stage-two baby food jars to measure my meals.

I couldn't eat more than 2-3 small bites for months. I am enjoying small portions of high quality food now. lol I am really enjoying the nice food I have, knowing that I can't overeat. My dietician told me that I will NEVER be able to eat more than a cup of food at a time, for the rest of my life. I'm good with that! I'm tired of being the one who eats more than most everyone at the table, although I wasn't pigging out. I'm just the small delicate one now. lol

At two months your diet should still be quite restrictive. You probably can't consume more than 2 - 3 ounces at a time. Use food scales and have 2 ounces of chicken and an ounce of steamed veggies. Considering that 1/2 of a chicken breast probably weighs about 6 ounces that's at lease 3 meals at 2 ounces per meal. I'm more than a year out and when I weight my food I still limit myself to 4 - 5 ounces, 3 ounces of protein and 2 of veggies. I'm truly full after the 5 ounces. I don't know if I could do 5 ounces of just chicken without feeling uncomfortable. Take it easy and it will all come together.

I cook for my husban and I take a bite or two and I'm full . There's no reason for me to cook for two when I can't eat very much. Good luck to ya .

I am in the pureed food part of post-op. I don't know what its like yet to be full. Because I puree everything, it's liquid and there-fore, I don't feel full. I'm not putting in garbage: It's mainly soup with protein powder added, cottage cheese (1/2 cup), and I did try two soft-boiled eggs (it took a long time to eat them). What's weird for me is that I don't feel much different now than I did before surgery. I'm not ravenous hungry and my stomach gurgles all the time. The biggest difference for me so far is that I can't gulp water. I can take a few bigger sips but if I gulp, it almost feels like I'm choking. It hurts like a big hard air-bubble. I'm very interested in seeing how it feels after an ounce. @TxBeauty, I'm more afraid of being able to eat like I used to

I couldn't eat more than a couple spoonfuls at a time for at least 4 months. At 6 months I could finally finish a whole serving of Greek yogurt and actually started enjoyed eating again. At 28 months I still can't eat a whole chicken breast....thank goodness!! I had surgery so I could never pig out again...it's kind of the whole point.

Be grateful for and take advantage of your restriction and take this time to learn the new habits you will need for the next several decades to maintain your loss once you reach goal and you CAN eat a whole lot more.

I can eat 2-3 oz of chicken at 5 months out, usually 2. I have that with 1/4 -1/2 cup of vegetables cooked soft, and can't always finish them. Sometimes, I'll have a bite of rice or pasta.
Softer foods go down a lot more easily - I can eat 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt with 1/2 cup of thawed blueberries for lunch.

I am just over 5 months out, and I am finally able to drink more than a mouthful at a time.

Use a salad/dessert plate for your dinner. Weigh or measure so you don't have too much on your plate.

If I order a regular dinner at a restaurant (protein, vegetable, potato), I can usually get at least three meals out of it.

It DOES get better. Hang in there.

I'm a few weeks behind you but feel the same way. Tonight my mom said that I should just stick to liquids for a while longer, as mashed potatoes were too filling.

So it's gonna be protein shakes & lots of soup for a while.

I was getting really frustrated until I read all these replies. Thanks, you all made me feel better. You reminded me of WHY I did this in the first place: so I couldn't pig out any more.
Slow & steady wins the race
