Fake posters / trolls are littering the board

Seriously, this is getting irritating. In the last few weeks we've had half a dozen new "members" post multiple posts within a few hours (up to 20 in 24 hours) asking the most basic one-liner questions.

All these new personas seem to be a single person who's already been banned twice.

Right now, the troll appears to have four new personas up and rolling and has started to confuse her/his own fake names and posts.

MediaHound, can't you just block this person's IP address?

Besides the excessive posts, they all have serious grammatical and spelling mistakes. Either never finished grade school or English is a second language.

English is my second language, and while I have also been annoyed with the fake posters, I don't want us to scapegoat anyone. Particularly because there may be some legit members with language deficiencies. This forum I gathered, is supposed to be inclusive of everyone, and we want to provide a nurturing and safe space for everyone to feel connected and part of a community, and not be ostracized in yet another place. Haven't we had enough of that in the real world?

I'm writing a letter to the administrators of this forum to get some answers, though I'm not going to expect much since this is a free outlet. In the meanwhile, I'm learning to discern between real and trollers.

I just can't believe I took the time to respond to her effing posts! I don't post a lot and when I see someone new who just had surgery or is about to, I want to put them at ease and then to be duped. Pissed me off! I guess I will just stick to the old timers who have been here awhile.

What if we all find her posts and report her or maybe we can all write something to the site administrators? I think I know who your talking about but I haven't been on enough to notice the issue.

I am new here and read alot but I still have tons of question and thats why i joined I wanted answers from people that had the experience.... I can read several articles which I did but there is nothing like knowing a real experience someone had after the Sleeve.

I sent an email to administrators about trolling and pumping up log-in security. It will be great if others do so as well. I have a few techy savvy friends and will ask for suggestions. But if someone is coming in to just promote someone's services there should be a warning or safety net for newbie's not to fall for their gimmick. Most us new here come with some vulnerabilities and that someone might take advantage of that really pisses me off.

I have noticed some forums have pinned thread's, how do we pin this one, or create others in each forum to warn others so it's the first pin they see when they join? Perhaps some of the old timers can collaborate and make suggestions for those pinned posts?

I'm pretty clueless at how to spot fake profiles except for those that are obvious for promoting someone so heavily and a lot of broken English.
