I'm curious how much time I need to take off work. I have a sit down job that requires very little movement.

It depends on your body. I had mine on a Thursday and was back the next Tues. I too have a sit down job. You may need to stand up and move, but I have done really well and was able to come back. Since you have the time before your surgery, start walking, get your protein in now and get extra vitamins in. I really believe that helped me to recover quickly. Good luck!!!!
I would talk to your PCP and surgeon, walking is a great Idea but taking a lot of vitamins before surgery might not always be good. There are many on a list that one should not take before any type of surgery. I took a week off just so I could be well hydrated and rested for when I went back to work.
Good luck

I had my sleeve done Thursday 3/24/16. Just because I was unsure, I only requested 6 days off from work with the thought of extending it if I needed to. I didn't. I was scheduled back on Wednesday 3/30/16 and I was ready. I'm an RN Case Manager. Not really what you would call a sit down job. But, maybe it could be.? I drive more than anything. I go to patient's homes that have recently been discharged from the hospital. I do wound care, IV's, etc. Not what you would call physical labor by any means but, I bend, stoop, kneel, reach. Only thing I couldn't do would be to bend over and say, touch my toes. Normally, I can do that. But, that soon after surgery, I couldn't and didn't...pain! Just make sure you get the fluid in!!!! Your body can survive a long time without food, but it can't do anything without water!!!
Welcome to the flock, I scheduled a week because we run m-f. I sit all day doing csr svc and I HAD a clot in 2014, so I don't want to go right back to a job where I am sitting all day. I am sure they would let you give back the days you don't use, if not kick back those heels and relax.
I had my surgery on Thursday March 31 and went back the following Friday. I highly recommend it. It was nice to go back 1 day and then have 2 more off. I'm in sales so I drive a lot too. Get up and walk around as much as possible.
