Okay so I wasn't going to post about this beings it is a bit of a personal issue however I am always curious to know if anyone else has had the same synopsis as I have so I will know I'm not alone. So here it goes. Since I gave birth to my son 17 years ago I have had issues having a regular cycle. I could have a normal cycle one month and go the rest of the year without one. After going to various doctors, extensive testing, pelvic ultrasounds and blood work....I was told that my thyroid levels were low and that I just needed to lose weight. So I was placed on Synthroid. During my 6 month weigh-ins and testing to get approved for the VGS I was to see a GYN and everything come back normal. I had my surgery on January 26th of this year. My problem is I began my period on February 26 and have been on it every since. Its been ALMOST a month and I'm still bleeding. Could this be the result of going so long without a cycle or do I need to worry? I plan on calling my GYN on Tuesday (as he is not open on Mondays) to make an appointment or to speak with his nurse. Please, any information is certainly helpful. Thank you all and God bless.

Menstrual bleeding for nearly one month straight is not normal. You definitely need to seek medical advice from a healthcare professional ASAP. Good luck to you.

August I had a period for almost 6 months, I ended up having a polyp in my Cervix. Definitely see your gyn. It could be nothing, you never know.

Oh my Kleb42. How did they diagnose that? (As far as testing?) And how are you doing now? My aunt seems to think I need a hysterectomy but my heart is set on one more child and I can't bare the thought of that.

Hey Brandi, don't listen to your aunt and go see your doctor. The sleeve did do a few "tricks" to me also, losing weight, surgery etc had it's toll. I'm usually always 28 days, but after surgery it was early, longer etc. I do have Gyn issues (endometriosis) and was also found with a small tumor (benine) on my cervix three month ago. Today medicine can offer all sorts of treatments, of course 50 years ago a doctor would only have offered hysterectomy....but we are in 2016! good luck and take care!

Please go see your GYN... Your health is not something to take the "wait and see" approach with... Something may seen minor and end up being more serious, and the same is true in the other direction but you don't know until you see a professional and find out.

Why dont you just go to the hospital they may be able to give you advice as well. If you are bleeding a lot you may have to worry about loosing to much blood and it could make you weak and you might just faint,witch would not be good at all. They might be able to give you something or they just might tell you to go with you GYN but at least you will know if this is something to worry about or not. I would just go to see what they tell you good luck and let us all know what happen for further reference.

Alright ladies and gent lol....after going to my appointment I have discovered that the prolonged cycle is due to the birth control that I restarted after the surgery. He informed me to stop the birth control and if the cycle dont stop within a week to give him a call and we would go from there that as of right now we wasn't going to panic. Wish me luck!

I was like that and had pre menopause. I had a hysterectomy. I wouldn't do it again! Get an ablation.
