Default TMI, but I need to know....

I am going to talk poop, so if you don't want to know about it, stop reading

So before the sleeve, I was always constipated and I would be lucky to have a bowel movement every 3 days or so and it was extremely hard and a lot of times difficult to get out. Since the sleeve, I have at least one if not more bowel movements a day and they are very loose. Did anyone else experience this?? I could see this happening with bypass patients since they don't have the absorption through the small intestine and things just go right into the large intestine, but for us sleevers? Anyone else notice this?

LOL. Not complaining at all. I had such bad constipation before, this is a walk in the park.

I had the sleeve in June and ever since surgery I had like horrible "run to the bathroom" moments (super embarrassing when it is in public and you have to rush to find a bathroom). It had gotten even worse since my gallbladder decided to be a butthead in January and I got it removed. It was awful! Check your protein consumption amount cause my doctor upped my protein gram goal from 65 to 90g per day and that completely has helped!! I have the opposite problem sometimes now but have had to add some fiber supplements (which I never thought I would have to!) and things are much better!

I am a little over 1 year post op, and went from going to often before surgery to not going often and having trouble going afterwards (hard and not often). I took Miralax which soften everything up and helped to regulate me. I take it every couple of days and so far so good!

I've been dealing with IBS for 20 years, so running after eating too much fiber was almost everyday. Since the sleeve it actually got much better, and almost back to normal...

I was a two poo a day type of girl before the op ! Mainly because of the amount of food I was eating ..... Now after the op Im regular but around every two to three days - which makes sense as the food needs to " build up " for a movement. They are mainly hardish and every two weeks or so I might take a stool softener.

In the beginning I took Mirlax, so bm was softer. At 8 months out, it is quite the opposite. I have to remember to take something or holy hell I get constipated. Last weekend, I felt like I was giving birth. I think it has a lot to do with where you are on your journey. I'd call your surgeons office, but it's probably normal. I just remember never knowing what to expect from day to day until I was a few months out.

Thanks to all for the info. I've been constipated to the point that I'm vomiting. Dr said take mild exlax. It helps, but I'm hoping I'll be able to bm without it.

Believe it or not, a fiber supplement will still help you...it will "bulk" up your stool.....I used to have HORRIBLE IBS, and that's what my dr recommended. You can also take Immodium daily with no side effects, or problems.
