I'm considering traveling to tijuana for surgery. Can anyone recommend a good surgeon. I've been doing research, but there are so many. Who did your sleeve? What was your experience like?
I just had my surgery a little over a week ago in Tijuana. I had Dr Camelo at the Florence Hospital. VERY VERY clean, he's amazing and the nursing staff took such good care of me that hands down I have never had such spectacular care anywhere. Can't say enough great things about him and his team.
I also went to doctor Almanza and was extremely impressed with the staff, the hospital and the 24 hour nursing provided at the very nice hotel. My mother went with me because she was freaking out that I was going to Tijuana for surgery and she has worked for the male clinic for 38 years and she was blown away by how professional everyone was, how clean the places were and with my overall surgery. I had my sleeve surgery on December 14th and since December 1st I have lost 42 pounds. I would highly recommend Dr Alamanza as I have had to nurse friends that went to him first and suggested him to me. We have all had fantastic experiences with him and his staff. If you have any questions just ask. I found him by going to weightlossagents.com
I went to Dr Almanza. I had a great experience. Nice hospital and hotel. Travel home was hard back to Denver but over all it was great. I also had my gallbladder removed so recover for me was a little harder but was back to work a week after my surgery. I would say the hardest part is the change of the relationship with food and handling the emotion that comes with that change.
I went to Dr. Almanza, way back when his hospital/clinic was in a strip mall sandwiched between a Staples and an Adult book store, it was seriously the cleanest place I have ever been, and the care was so much better than any hospital visit I ever had here in Montana. I would recommend him to anyone, it was a great experience for me.
Yeah, those are 5 serious reviews, but that is out of over 14,000 surgeries he's done. I may not have been his fault either, could have been poor pre/post op things the patients doing for themselves either. I chose him because my friend went last year and said it was the best choice she's ever made and there's a girl on here that found me and we have the same surgery date. We are going to go through this together. Looking forward to it. Still nervous though!
Yes, I am being re-sleeved, or having a revision as some call it. I have not followed the rules and I have failed my sleeve. My stomach has stretched so far back out I can eat an entire 6 inch sub and still be hungry. I failed, the tool didn't, but I am armed with the right knowledge this time and I am going back to have my restriction put back in.
Hi Wendy. I understand your concerns. I am having my surgery performed by Dr. Velasquez in a couple of weeks. The young lady who referred me had Dr. Almanza and has nothing but positive things to say about him and the whole staff & experience. My husband would rather I choose him because he has done so many more than Dr. Velasquez. However, this time I chose based on savings and I know he has still done very well, just has fewer clients and the existing reviews are positive.
