    Default Stopped working

Hello everyone hope everyone weight loss is going well, well mine is not I lost 30 lbs then I started to gain the weight back. the messed up part is I'm in the gym 4 nights a week I still can only eat a little bit. but the weight just seems like it don't want to go away. I'm starting to think this gastric sleeve didn't work for me. I know a lot of people who were larger then me and they lost way more weight then I have. what do I do.

It has been almost 3 years since I had mine done. I got down to 193 now I'm 225. I've been working out about every day and the scale goes up and down about 2 - 3 lbs. I just went to have my annual follow up with the weight loss clinic. I had a long talk with the nutritionist and basically was told to start to square one with my eating. WEPNS is an acronym for water, exercise, protein and no snacking. Keeping carbs to 60g a day and same for protein, no more, no less. Keep a journal on what you are eating, I know it's a pain but don't give up on it. Least you are under the 200lb which is what I've been working so hard to do.

If you're eating protein first, then veggies, getting in your liquids, exercising, you should have no problem losing/maintaining weight.

I challenge anyone with the sleeve to sit down and try to eat a whole steak, or big restaurant burger, or pork chop, or even chicken. It's impossible. But things like cookies, ice-cream, chips or even a candy bar will go down, no problem. Follow the rules, eat what you should be eating, and you'll get back on track in no time.

How much are you eating and what are you eating? I'm not as far out as you but I would think you would have lost more weight by now if your following the directions from your dietician. I have heard a lot of people doing a 5 day pouch test, search it and try it. You can do the cottage cheese test, see how much you can eat in one sitting to see what your sleeve can hold.
I was told I should plan on getting 64oz of water, 70g of protein and taking my vitamins for the rest of my life. Eat protein 1st, low carbs etc...
How many calories are you taking in VS burning off?
I'd try to go back to the beginning.
If your doing everything your supposed to do, tracking and staying away from junk and your gaining weight.....something isn't right.
If you find yourself going back to old habits, take responsibility now and get back on track. It's never too late :-)

Exercise by itself will not do anything to help a sleeved person lose weight. I know, I know...this goes against the conventional wisdom we all have been taught.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: eating too many slurry foods (a.k.a. sliders) are the root of most sleeved peoples' weight regain problems. Foods such as crackers, chips, wafers, pretzels and popcorn slide through our tubular stomachs without creating any restriction. The intestines of sleeved people adapt over time to easily convert slider foods into fat, which results in weight regain.

Return to basics...return to the pre-op liquid diet for one week and see if the scale moves in the right direction. Lay off the exercise during this week (it obviously isn't helping). Aim for 80+ grams of protein and 60+ ounces of water per day.

Most obese people and formerly fat people have a low tolerance to simple white carbs...these foods generate an exaggerated insulin response that keeps our bodies in fat storage mode. Some people are moderators who can moderate their intake of sliders, whereas others are abstainers who must totally abstain from these foods. Personally, I need to abstain from crackers, pretzels and popcorn because these foods trigger compulsive eating patterns in me, in addition to stalling my weight loss.

Good luck to you. Also, try the 5-day pouch test: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html

I would schedule an appointment with a dietitian and take both a good food diary and exercise details. Be completely honest and log every bite you put in your mouth. With that information the dietitian can give you a good idea about what changes you should make. You'll find your success just don't give up no matter what.

At the gym, have you been doing the same cardio routine?
Yer body will get used to the same 'ol routine an you won't get the most out of it. Their is a point to where too much cardio becomes counterproductive too

~~> The wisdom shared above is just what you need to do and a good start is don't blame the sleeve.
Something's obviously working against you. Sugars are a sneaky lil bugger
I like the recommendation of starting from scratch to reset, I've read many old timers praise that route. Some get re-sleeved to but I'd only do that as a last resort.

Not sure if I believe you that exercise will not make you lose weight. Maybe not, but you sure will look and feel better. And you will be able to eat a little more and not gain weight.

At my health assessment I weighed the exact same weight to the tenth of the pound 2 years in a row, but this year I lost 2 inches around my waist. Same weight, better body.

I said that exercise by itself will not help a person lose weight. Nobody can outrun a shitty diet. Nobody can out-train a daily diet of sliders and slurry foods. Eating too many carbs will cause the most susceptible of us to remain in fat storage mode, no matter how much we run, jump, lift, or cycle.

A person can jog 10 miles a day and lift weights several times a week, but will not lose weight if bad eating habits such as grazing on sliders have not been nipped in the bud. Protein, hydration and supplementation are the key.

The good thing in all of this is, you still have your sleeve. Remember the sleeve is a tool for YOU to use so you can achieve favorable results. The truth is, if not used the right way then the results will be less than favorable. Do a reset as suggested above and follow the rules! Protein first, no water 30 minutes before and after eating. Make good choices when it comes to snacking especially. Remember, we are not the ones who have the genetic makeup to eat whatever and still loose and keep weight off or we would not be here. Go back to basics, you can do it! Good luck, keep us posted
