Calling all sleevers recently had procedure done in Mexico!

Hi everyone. I've been reading this message board religiously because I am planning on getting the sleeve done March 9th with Dr. Almanza. I have a personal friend who had him and said its the best decision she's made. Now my questions are:

1. Who is your doctor going to be (or was)?
2. If you had surgery in Mexico, how was your experience?
3. Do you have advice on the best doctors to research?

Thanks in advance! I know nobody is perfect but I want to live through this decision for my daughters!

I had Dr Almanza 7/7/15, had a great experience. Money well spent.

I had my surgery June 30th, 2015.
I was very disappointed in the attitudes of my local health care providers and all the hoops they expected you to jump through.
I researched as much as I could, then while recovering at the hotel read about a news release in San Diego naming Dr. Almanza in several cases where patients from the USA had had bad outcomes and were trying to spread the word.
My experience in Mexico was better than I could have dreamed.
I felt bad for the people who had bad outcomes, but could not relate, because I was doing better than expected.
The accommodations and staff were more than adequate and I made several friends from all over the US and we supported each other there and after we came home.
I suggest you think of it as a grand adventure and have a positive attitude, but pray!
Any surgery can have complications, but Dr. Almanza and his team are very experienced.
I have no regrets and wish I had done it sooner.

Was sleeved January 15, had a great experience for 12 days until the shit hit the fan severe hiatal hernia ,been crying in pain for 22 days and it can't be corrected for 3 months until I heal.

I had my sleeve in 2012 with almanza. For me all went very well and i have reached goal amd maintaining for 3 years. Good luck

Read my forum post from yesterday. I had Dr all amansa and my experience was fantastic! My thread form is called I lost 40 pounds in 2 & a half months and went from a size 22 to a 14. I have a lot of information in that post I posted it yesterday

Mexico star medica dr rodriguez i went thru the belite team awesome awesome experience. My two friends went to him as well before me. He does about 5 people 4 days a week. It went fast the nurses were sucky - thats the only bad part. I got standed thru american airlines the lost my lugggage huge ordeal and the belite team paid for a hotel untill surgery day and also paid for me a meal and everything fell right into place

I am one week out from having the sleeve with Dr. Almanza. He is a wonderful person and a GREAT doctor!! Everything that they said would happen, did!!
Hospital extremely clean and organized, staff is ready to help you with whatever you need. This is the single best decision that I have ever made.
It is no walk in the park, but if your head is screwed on right and prepared it will be a good experience.

Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Hernandez (in the same practice as Dr. Almanza)? I am considering using him but would love to hear from some folks who used him for their procedure.
