Default My journey is not alone....

Hello all my name is Shaun and I'm from Grande Prairie Alberta, and my schedule surgery date is March 16th , 2016 with Dr. Almanza.
I am a little scared going into surgery, but I know that there are several individuals and support groups available before and after, so that is why I'm registering here tonight because the support looks amazing.
I have battled with weight all my life, the ups and downs and I'm just tired of having two sets of clothing sizes in the closet, so it's time to take the next step, and that's to get my life back!!!!
I look forward to connecting with my fellow sleevers in the near future.
    Thanks

Hi and welcome! You've come to the right place for support. It's normal to be nervous, I was also. I'm currently in Mexico, I was sleeved a couple days ago by Dr. Almanza. He and his staff are awesome. Do what they tell you to do from your preoperative stage and you Will do fine. I'm currently in the hotel which is nice also. You will not regret this. This has been the best 4200 I've spent in my life! If you have questions I'll be happy to answer them for you.

    Hello Shaun,

    Welcome to the forum!

Surgery is scary, I had a few sleepless nights the weeks before. I felt relieved once it was over!

Many people had surgery in Mexico and they all seem to be happy, so you will find lots of buddies to share your experience with.

Good luck for the pre-op diet!

    take care

Thanks for taking the time to write, I hope all is going well for you, I am just a bit nervous about some of the stories I read about having lots of gas, feeling hungry etc. I hear the facility is nice and clean, is that true? are you or any of your surgery buddies having any pain issues currently?
    Thanks
    Shaun

Thanks Teriona for taking time to write, hope things are going well, any suggestions on what to bring that you wish you would of to the surgery or to aid and assist while you are in the hospital or hotel?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
How is the pain managed and on a scale of 1-10 where do you think your pain is today?
    Thanks
    Shaun

Hi Shaun, I had my surgery January 25th, 2016. I'm from just outside Edmonton and the hospital reminded me of the older wing of our local hospital. It's very clean and all equipment is full functional. Everyone recommend gas-x stripes, they weren't for me...gave me an upset stomach...that being said it does hurt to take a pack with you. I loved my heating pad, no need for an extension cord. I wish I would have taken ear plugs, all floors are tile and it can be noisy at the hotel. I also took a small blacked that I used alot since I packed too many lighter clothing items. Take some hoodie, even though it's Mexico it cools off at night and the sitting area/pool is on the north side of the hotel. I have had no issues at all, healing just fine. Keep in touch and best of luck you will do fine (remember to walk when you can it's the best way to get the gas out).
