2 year anniversary since my surgery. A few things from this life changing journey.
I am completely off every medicine.
All blood work is perfect.
Blood pressure perfect.
I can eat and drink anything I want, some things more then others. High protein, denser meat etc... fills me up faster. I can eat a restaurant hamburger with bun and some fries , or 2 slices of pizza wait 15 minutes and eat a 3rd. I can, but I choose not to all the time. I eat like your supposed to, not like its my last meal. Buffets I sample what I like, not till I'm ready to lay on the floor with my pants off. Before surgery came close EVERYTIME.
I can drink soda, but it fills me up quick. For some reason when I add Parrots Bay Rum, it tastes better. I can drink alcohol. Doesn't effect me faster or any different. One party it was tested, maybe sub consciously or maybe because it was such a good party. I was told after 12 beers and 3 shots, they stopped keeping track.
My Dr told me to exercise and loose as much as I can during honeymoon faze. About 1-1 1/2yrs. After that most patients see a 10-15lb gain. Almost to the 1 1/2yr mark weight loss was steady.
I went from 290 to 184. For me to skinny. Size 44 pants to 32, 3x shirt to L. Completely different person. I have been steady between 190-195lbs over past 6 months. Perfect for me.
My skin isn't bad. Dr said probably because I was working out hard in the beginning. Some weeks 5-6 days a week 2 hrs a day. Walking on the treadmill 1/2hr-45 minutes, and 30 minute circuit at Planet Fitness, then a few stomach machines. NOTHING CRAZY. Anyone can do it. My gym has people 400lbs, and others probably in their 80s. One member is in a wheel chair and does upper body exercises. Hard to say I can't when they can. No excuses.
Between the holidays, work schedule and remodeling some rooms in my house, I go to gym 2-3 days a week, sometimes unfortunately 1 day. Yes excuse, but key is I'm still active. I'm not sitting on the coach, eating everything I can.
I feel better about myself, I love the way I feel, love the way I look, love getting dressed up to go out (yes guys can too). The nice clothes you buy off the hanger in the middle of the store, the ones on the manikins fit now.
I really had no issues, I followed my Drs instructions like it was the law. I have recommended the surgery to anyone and everyone. (Some have had it and love their transformation). I have never hidden the fact I had surgery, my personal choice.
If I had to go back in time, I would have had it sooner. I put off for years. Tried every diet possible. Lose 50 gain 75. I was an addict to food. Just like any addict, I had to be ready to change, and find what treatment was best for me. This was it.
Good Luck to anyone who is thinking or has had surgery. I hope your journey goes like mine has so far.
