I don't miss a thing. I love everything about how I feel, how I eat and how I move now.

The only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I feel like I have control over food and over my life.

And I really don't deprive myself. If I want something, I eat it. Thank you Tinman for teaching me this. It look me a while to get it. And while losing I didn't listen. But on maintenance I follow this. Granted I mostly want things that make me feel good, but if I want caramel popcorn or chocolate, I eat it. As long as I eat it once I've had a nice meal, I can only eat a little and it's impossible for it to be a problem.

I don't eat meals of dessert, but I do occasionally eat sweets. I just make a point to eat healthy first. It just works then. Unlike Tinman, I did and still do write everything down (in mfp) but more because I like stats and like to track stuff, not as a burden...

And I move a lot, run, lift weights, etc -- all because I can. Not because someone is making me. I am doing what feels right and I can't think of a thing I miss.

I will say it-I do miss pop. I loved that stuff.

But i also love my size 10 pants and medium tops. I also love shopping!! I love the fact I am going on an airplane and don't have to be humiliated with a seat too small, not to mention a seatbelt extender if they could find one to fit me. I don't miss walking into a mall and feeling embarrassed like I didn't belong there. I don't miss feeling paranoid people were laughing at me behind my back. I don't miss not going home to see my family because I am too embarrassed. I don't miss not being able to cross my kegs and my hair being a wreck because I am so sweaty across my forehead (very curly hair). Don't miss not having the energy to clean house or run errands as long as I need to. I don't miss getting winded walking up the stairs. I don't miss not fitting into booths and chairs. I don't mind not being uncomfortable sitting in those chairs because there is no other option, and having bruises on my thighs from hanging over
the edges. I don't miss the embarrassment my kids felt from having a big mom.

Newbies, take a look at the list and see which you will choose. Best wishes to you!

I sometimes miss not being able to indulge in a whole big fat sandwich of my choice, or being able to eat the entire plate of pasta in front of me (I'm Italian).

I don't miss having stroke level blood pressure, size 20 pants (I'm now a size 2), always making sure my husband was on top so I wouldn't crush him

Haha, yes, the airplane! We just flew and I asked my husband if they were making the seats bigger. He said, no, they are actually smaller! I fit just fine with plenty of room to pull up on the belt! Score!! lol!

There's really nothing I deprive myself of these days, I just do it differently. For example, I limit carbonation now, (almost entirely). Once in a great while I will have a Guinness as it's barely carbonated and doesn't cause me problems. I have tested the waters with other carbonation and I can't do it anymore. Hurts after a while so I don't even try anymore. If there's anything I miss, it would be carbonation.

The list of what I don't miss is long... Not sweating like a pig when I take a couple of mile walk on a nice day, being able to breathe at the top of a few flights of stairs, buying bigger and bigger clothes, not being able to breathe in general. Oh and the cholesterol, blood pressure, asthma and anxiety meds. I don't miss them at all!

Don't worry about hurting my feelings because I guarantee you not one bit of my self esteem is tied up in your acceptance.

NIK K, Can I ask you what a day of eating is like for you? I am at a standstill and have been for a while. I was one the small % that had complications. although I have lost weight I cant seem to get more off and I work out everyday. Maybe I don't take in enough food.
    ANy help is appreciated.

Being completely honest I do rarely miss being able to eat just a little more when I'm out to eat at a restaurant where the food is delish. But a few minutes later I realize that I am much better off without that extra bite or two. So it's not even a real "miss".

I don't miss anything about being large. It was uncomfortable and really ruined my self-confidence. I don't miss the type 2 diabetes and I do not miss the stretchy athletic pants I wore every day for a few years just to make sure I was invisible when I went anywhere. I didn't want anyone to notice me because I was ashamed of my weight. I remember wearing those ugly stretchy pants to parent pick up every single day. It was a very depressing time.

Although losing the weight didn't solve all of my problems by any means it did improve my health drastically and has given me much more confidence.

    Starting BMI 2/3/2012 - 38
Goal BMI-24! REACHED and BELOW!! 10/2012 Current BMI 21.0!
The best goals reached are the ones hardest earned.

Thanks Ann! Riding horses and stacking hay....better than Pilates any day. If you look close, though, you can see the big bulge right above my belly button. That's the hernia the surgeon created when he removed my gallbladder. I forgot to poke it back in before my friend snapped the picture. He also caught me sticking my tongue out
