Hello,
I'm scheduled for surgery in the morning and JUST found out it is bad to smoke before surgery. Honestly did not know. I don't know why I didn't put it together. I've been so focused and scared my insurance company would say no that I never put this together. I did quit for a few months so when I saw my doctor (FINALLY, only met the guy twice) he was like you must go on pre-op NOW as I had gained weight. I lost the weight he said and still am terrified to eat anything though I spoke to the nutritionist yesterday and she told me I didn't even have to follow the diet anymore if I didn't want to . I question that and protein shakes and water it is.
I happen to be on the net and looked it up an hour ago. And much to my horror many are saying stop smoking at least 2 weeks before. This was mid cigarette mind you. I'm not a big smoker at all. 1-2 a day. and not every day. I go months without smoking. I'm more if its there then I will if not, whatever. This month its been there. I always justified that way. I was thinking "Hey last smoke before surgery as I wasn't going to touch a cigarette again. Quitting 100%." Why smoke if I'm want to live a healthy lifestyle overall. Wish I would've thought about this before but here I am now FREAKING OUT. So emotional and everyone is saying its going to be fine but they don't know that. SO scared they will say no as its been a year process. A YEAR! I started this journey in Jan. and its been a lot of stress and worry about the insurance approving it which I just learned the other week they did. Don't know what I will do if they say no in teh morning. I schedule my whole life around this. So focused on getting this and preparing I'm so mad at myself for not figuring this very obvious thing out.
Anyone smoke? Any advice? I hate my first post being this but any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
