Default How to get more water in?

Every single day my goal is to drink more water and I am missing that goal every single day. Now that I can't guzzle it down the sips are far in between.

The other day I ordered an ice tea and was amazed how easily I could get my liquids down using the straw. As if my sleeve was gone but I read we shouldn't use straws.

Sipping from a cup I struggle more as if I am taking air in. Do you use a special water bottle to get your liquids in and that works best with a sleeve? What is your secret. I think my weight loss would benefit if I could get my water in without forgetting and finding a way that gets it down more easily.

If it works, use the straw. I never did understand (or follow) that "rule". And never be without a water bottle. Keep a couple stored in your car, at work, etc. "never leave home without it". That's one of the strongest habits I developed. Even now I kind of panic if I don't have something to drink within reach at all times. Took about a year before I could take a normal big gulp. I still can't chug a lot at a time, but by having something available at all times I far exceed my fluid goals every day.

They recommend against straws because they might cause excessive gas. If it didn't for you, then go ahead and use one. I miss straws too. I was a constant sipper prior to surgery, but I was either drinking out of a mug or with a straw.

Please let me know if it works - I'll give it a try in another couple of weeks. when I sip from my bottles, I often take too much and have pain/nausea.

Use the timer on your cell phone to remind you to sip every 10 minutes or so. I struggled with remembering to drink so at the end of the day I wouldn't make my fluid goal. Start sipping in the morning and continue all day, only stopping before and after meals.

DO NOT LAUGH, please! I'm a nurse working in surgery! Very limited breaks. To get any water in at all now it's guzzle on the run. Not being able to guzzle means I won't get my water goals.

I considered a Camelbak. Is that to crazy? I've been searching for a small fanny pack style.

Anyone else think of this or actually do it?

Here's my schedule hope it works for somebody...

    8oz with my vitamins
    12oz decaf coffee
    Eat breakfast
    Wait an hour
Drink 20oz before I have lunch
    Wait an hour afte lunch
    Drink 2 x 20oz (40oz) before dinner
By the time I eat dinner I already have in 80oz of hydrating fluid

I will have another 12-20 oz after dinner

I can't guzzle either. I can drink a bottle of water in about 30 minutes. Timers on your phone are great and so is The Fitbit app for, tracking your water intake.

    Good luck!

I wouldn't consider anything crazy when trying to get the water in. Whatever you can figure out that works for you is the right thing to do. If you're working in surgery it's not like you can ask for a pause in the operation so you can have a bit to drink. You'll find something that works for you.
