Post op , day 2

Hi all, today is much better then Yessterday, Anestethis was a bit hard my body and took most of the day to recover from that, but after that, I felt pretty good. Not much pain or nausea except for the new banana making some noise, ultimately the hardest thing for me has been no food or water, swabs just do no cut it, I got of surgery about 11 and went in a 9 am. He did 5 surgeries yesterday.

Anyway, waiting to do my leak test in a few, time seems to go bacward while you're waiting.

Hello I had my surgery yesterday as well..coming out of recovery or to my room was a little painful but once they got my pain meds right I've been feeling pretty darn good waiting for my leak test this morning as well I hope you continue to have a good recovery.

How exactly do they do a leak test? I had my surgery last Monday and I came home the same day. They did my leak test while I was still knocked out from the anesthesia so I do not have a clue what they did. How do I know I am not leaking. haha. Thanks! Glad you are feeling okay. - Jennifer

My doctor did a test I had to go down and drink some bariumMixture and then the doctor watched it on an xray to see it going to my stomach in to see if it was leaking

Mine just pumped my stomach up with gas and used soap and water like you check for a gas leak on plumbing.....kidding just kidding, he just used soap

Damn,, I would have given anything to be home the same day. Hospital peeps were great and but the discomfort, strange bed, machines and them checking on me every hour made for a sleepness night. Last night I crashed early and woke up at 4 am. Anyone else notice their resting heart rate dropped? Mine used to be about 90 and dropped to 70.

Hi Everyone,
My surgery was late on Monday Nov 23 in the afternoon. I was walking that evening. Had a restless night on account of a malfunction tweeting of a door in the main hallway so I was so happy to be discharged on Tuesday afternoon with just one night in the hospital. I was initially very sore but everyday is so much better. I am following the clear liquid diet and walking around the house and feeling better and better. When I got home I noticed that I gained 4 pounds in two days in the hospital but today the weight has returned to my prehospital weight. I remembering people commenting that the IV fluid they give is saline and that can retain fluid as well as the inflammation from the surgery. I am learning to sip sip sip like an ole English tea woman LOL! I am thankful for no complications thus far. No nausea and pain is very tolerable. For thanksgiving, my husband cooked for himself and daughter but I set our usual table with candles, china etc. I set myself a place as well and placed a wine glass full of diet cranberry drink and a mug of beef broth. As we chatted about the things we are so grateful for, I was content in realizing this is the first thanksgiving ever I will leave the table without overeating! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I also got my surgery 11/23 I'm so thankful everything seems to be going according to plan. When I take deep breaths I still feel a heavy weight on my upper body shoulder area. I felt this this right after surgery I was told it was gas pains. Feels Allie less pain but still there and it hurts to take breaths only inhaling portion. Is this still gas pains? Can I take anything for it?
