Aww that's normal with all of the liquids they pumped us with at the hospital. I haven't been weighed since a week before my surgery so I'm looking forward to seeing my surgeon and nutritionist next week!

6 Month Requirement with Nut = 41 pounds
    1st mo = 19 pds
    2nd mo = 19 pds
    3rd mo = 9 pds
    4th mo = 16 pds
    5th mo = 11 pds
    6th mo = 9 pds
    7th mo = 4 pds
8th mo = 1 pd (bad food choices)
    9th mo = 4 pds
    10th mo = 3 pds
    11th mo = 3 pds
    12th mo = 4 pds
    13th Mo = 3 pds

You should consider putting up a weight ticker, so we can see what your total weight loss is since you had surgery.

    Thanks.

Christine ... thanks for putting up your weight / surgery tickers.

You know, those numbers don't look bad at all! Not sure if you lost weight pre-op or not, but a 19 pound loss in 32 days for someone who's starting out at a relatively low BMI for VSG surgery (like you) is great in my book.

Those stalls will happen to you throughout your weight losing phases -- all of them. But you're absolutely right that if your protein is good and your water is good and you're eating 700 cals a month out (which is certainly what most of us were doing at that phase) you're going to lose weight.

I assume you know about the "three week stall" -- right? If not, google it. It's a real deal -- somewhere around the third week post-op (could be earlier or later) we hit our first slow-down. Here's a pretty good description of what causes it (it happens not just with WLS patients, but with those who are seriously dieting): At http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php

For now, keep doing what you're doing so well -- protein, water, moving more, staying positive.

Please don't be discouraged. I believe we are in the same boat! I had my sleeve on Aug. 8. I started at 204 a week pre-op, and the week after surgery, I weighed in at 188. An amazing 16 pounds in 2 weeks. The second week after surgery another 8 lbs, then it stopped completely. I went for 3 weeks without losing a single pound (I only weigh on Saturdays), and got extremely discouraged. Then suddenly, the week before last I lost another 5 pounds. This past 2 weeks...nothing. I'm not sure the reason and have read all kids of articles, blogs, spoken to NUT, etc. But the big PLUS is that even though I haven't really lost significant weight since that 3rd week after surgery, I can suddenly fit back into clothes I haven't worn in forever. And, everyone has noticed. I don't feel slimmer, but everyone keeps asking how much more weight I've lost. When I say that I haven't really lost anymore, they can't believe it, so there must be a difference. My husband even told me for the first time this week that he is really glad I did this because he can really see the difference (and I haven't even lost more according to the scales!). While writing this I've just made up my mind to go buy a tape measure Maybe seeing the results on something I can measure will help me feel better. It has to be inches in my case, because when I had the rapid loss immediately after surgery, it didn't change what I could wear in my closet.

Please hang in there. I hate to know you're at a stall, but it's kinda nice to know I'm not the only one having issues dropping the weight as quickly as I imagined.

Hi Christine, I have been in exactly the same situation as you and know how frustrating it was. Everyone gave me the same advice about not weighing everyday and to stall is normal. My stall lasted about 4 wks and the weight loss has been slow but steady since. Keep the faith, follow the guidelines and things will fall into place

Christine, make sure your are drinking 64 oz's of water at a minimum daily, dehydration will stall you in an instant. If you can walk daily, or some other type of exercise to help get your metabolism rolling. Good luck, Dean.

After the first month or so, I tended to stall ever 3 weeks, for three weeks then I'd all the sudden drop 3-4 lbs. then I'd sit at that weight for another 2-4 weeks, and drop another 2-3 lbs. Every person stalls, it's just your body catching up with itself. I am at goal now at less than 5 months, over 50 lbs gone. Others are right- sometimes inches come off not lbs, I'd drop two pants sizes and not see the scale move. make your protein and other nutritional tickers count for your goals when weight loss is stagnant to keep your mind focused on the right things.
Cereals, breads, pastas "always" made me gain a lb or stall as well, even just a little so I stay away from those.

Good luck, you are doing the right things, it's just wait time!
