    Default Super fast process

I am worried about how fast my process is going and if it is a bad sign. I called the doctors office last week and they scheduled my consult and day seminar for this Wednesday and Thursday. They even said that I could have my sleeve done on Friday, but I told them that it was too fast. So tentatively they have me scheduled for the 27th of December. I have read on here where people are waiting months and months and I could have had my entire thing done within two weeks of making the first phone call. This makes me nervous. Anyone else have such a speedy process? Thanks
    Sammie

I guess it depends on whether you are paying for the procedure yourself, or whether your insurance company is going to pay. If the insurance company is going to pay, the process to get approvals can take months (at least in the U.S.). I had to document that I have tried other weight loss programs, have been over 40BMI for five years or more, get clearances from three doctors including a psychologist, join a support group, and have nutritional counseling before my insurance company would approve. And I thought my process was fast-tracked because I first consulted a bariatric surgeon in October and told him I wanted to get this done the first week of December. The girls at the doctor's office told me they weren't certain I could meet all the insurance requirements in only two months, but I just made a list and starting checking the boxes to make it happen.

I guess if you're paying for it yourself, and if your surgeon has an opening, they have no problem just scheduling you for the procedure. As long as you've done your homework and are happy with your surgeon and his care team, you can go for it; but I still wouldn't want anyone to rush me into it. It is a MAJOR lifestyle change, and is not reversible.
    Diane

My insurance paid for my surgery. I had to do 6 months of classes and so on and when I got done with all that I was told it would be another 4 month but nope it happened a lot quicker then that maybe 2 weeks tops.

My experience has been very fast with the insurance company approving it just 2 weeks after they sumitted it. The Drs office put me on the books for Dec.17 when I first met with him just 3 weeks earlier. I had been looking into this though for along time and knew what the insurance needed. I had already been on a Dr. office diet for 3 months, had joined a fittness center, and had a dietary consult(1) So that might have saved alot of time If I went into a Drs office and they wanted to do surgery that same week I would be leary, unless someone had just cancelled. Most good Drs are booked for at least a few weeks in advance. Best of Luck!!

Mine was a quick process too. I had never even heard of this surgery untiil a magazine came to our house. I read the article and started researching online. After talking with my husband, we decided to go for it. That took about 2 weeks. Then it was only 3 weeks from that point until my surgery so it all happened very fast! It was a bit scary to have it happen so quickly but I have no regrets! In fact, I think it was better as it gave me less time to start second guessing. I am 4 weeks post-op and have lost 30 lbs. I have had minor issues such as heartburn and constipation and the discomfort from the surgery was short lived. I have good energy and feel great most of the time (some foods don't sit well, but that usually goes away with in 30 minutes of eating). So embrace it and put the nerves aside! You are on your way to a life changing event!
