Getting sleeved on Aug. 18, 2015 in TJ with Dr. Almanza

I'm flying to San Diego August 17th and getting my sleeve in TJ with Dr. Almanza on August 18th. I'm really excited but I hate that everyone I've told about it is freaking out because I'm having it in Mexico, so I'm not telling them anymore.

My husband is excited for me as I've had trouble controlling my weight ever since I was diagnosed with Hyper-Thyroidism. He's nervous about me doing it in Mexico, but if I wasn't doing it there, I couldn't afford it. They want to charge $15,000 more for the same procedure here in Sacramento.

I just hope and pray I'm not one of the few who have complications. If there's anyone getting theirs done on the same day, let me know!

Don't worry, it is not much different from the US. You'll be fine, and you will be SO HAPPY with the results.

they treat you great down there, no worries! and they speak English and are very kind! my friend I work with is going down the 16th and will have hers done the 17th by Dr. Amanza! Her name is Debbie, she has long graying hair and is so excited... she will have 3 friends coming with her! look her up!

Welcome to the forum! I also have hyper-thyroidism, and have been struggling to find the right level of medication for two years. I was worried that my weight loss would be impacted by taking medication that lowers my metabolism, however, so far I haven't really had a problem. I was sleeved on 6/22 by Dr. Almanza and have lost 30 lbs to date. What has your endo had to say about your meds and weight loss surgery? Mine wasn't on board at first, but when he saw that I was going to have the surgery regardless, he just had me promise that I would keep getting my labs done so he could check my levels. Bring a good pillow if you can fit it; and tell my shaved head friend in the restaurant in the hotel he was wonderful and I miss him! LOL They will take good care of you. it's not "fancy", but I fully believe they do more than enough and are safe and competent.

I'm having my surgery with Dr. Almanza on the 17th. So I'll likely see you at the hotel for at least one day!

Have you done research recently on Almanza? He's going to lose his license due to patient complications and deaths.

Goog Dr. Almanza and search for news stories and you will see!

I don't want to scare you, but no surgeon should do 12-20 surgeries a day! That's not enough time to properly sterilize the OR and means he's in a hurry and more likely to not do things properly. A friend of mine had a leak after surgery with Almanza and after reporting her complications she never heard from him or WLA again!

I had my surgery in Mexico 2 1/2 yrs ago. I have lost and kept 124 pounds off I did not use your doctor, I used a different doctor. I know I have no regrets about going to Mexico, best decision ever.
