I was able to go off the insulin on day 2. but I am still on all the bp meds 7 of them. and I am having problems with keeping it under control.
thats great you got of your insulin hopefully you'll get of bp to
I have one of my ex-pats here in Iraq on the base, that was HYPOTENSIVE, which is LOW B/P. He had just returned from R&R back in the states & renewed his B/P meds. He has lost a significant amount of weight since being deployed over here in the middle east, from 280 - 235. I reached out to some "real" doctors in the area & found out that the loss of as little as 15 lbs can be the lynch pin for ppl coming off of their BP meds. In the long run, we adjusted his BP meds to 1/2 of his normal pill 5 times a week. If he can lose another 35 lbs, I am sure he'll be off completely. So it is easy to see, why the sleeve works so well with underlying medical problems; like diabetes & hypertension. Just some food for thought. ;-)
Thanks! That certainly is encouraging news.
Went for my 2 week post-op check-up today and my bp was 115/60, which the doctor said was at the lower end of normal, but was reluctant to alter my medication based on one reading. When I sat up from the examination table I was a bit woozy, which she put down to low bp. She has asked me to monitor my own bp for about a week then go see the GP who, she feels fairly sure, will reduce my medication.
Exciting times all round!! : )
I was hoping that when I lost over 20 lbs that I would at least come off of one of the bp meds. but didn't, this past weekend has been a nightmare with it. from 105/50 to 229/98. it is all over the place, so my dr added clonidine to take a few extra ea day till its regulated. I cut them in 4's there real small. just to keep it under control. I am monitoring all my sodium and its still all over. I am going to start getting in more activity this week and get this weight down. I am at 163 but its still controling me!! I hate it!!! Had all the bloodwork that they required after surgery, it was over 800.00 and 10 vials of blood!!! can't wait to see what any of it says!!! I hope that its all good!
wow, that is so encouraging for someone who has not yet had the sleeve done. I too have hypertension and diabetes, diabetes is controlled however the blood pressure is a problem. Have to have a 24 hour blood pressure reading this week and then see the cardiologist next week. Hopefully it gets under control. Then in december see surgeon for the sleeve. Dare I say that I am actually looking forward to surgery.
Yep sure did.
