    Howdy,
I'm just a loser! . . . of weight that is. I thought I was done with all that lady business, but guess what? After a year of being free of the monthlies SURPRISE! After a D and C and an ablation; things are worse. The pills I'm on to keep me from bleeding to death make me sick to my stomach and water makes me gag. But you know what. . . I suck it up because things could be worse. I'll get a handle on this (in the form of a hysterectomy). I'm just pissed because I was looking forward to water aerobics. Anyway, what is my point? Hhhmmmmmm......not sure. Oh, menopause and the sleeve; probably not a good mix, but what does go good with menopause? Life is grand and as long as the scale is moving in the right direction. . . . WHOO HOO
Best of luck to every one.

Kathysangels, your words are invaluable. People who are struggling often need to hear that they are not the only ones struggling and support. Often, those of us who have been around awhile forget that. We have read the same types of posts over and over again and the snap on some poor, unsuspecting soul! lol. Thank you for your patience in these circumstances. I could not have made it without this site. Thank goodness I didn't have someone be rude or impatient, because I have a very soft heart and thin skin. Imwould never have come back. I really hope Sleevegal stays around, because there is such sage wisdom here. There is no "one size fits all". It takes time to find out what works for you and you have to be patient with yourself. Take care and remember to be kind to yourself. (((hugs)))

You've lost 37 lbs in three months without exercising. That is pretty darn good in my book. I too am post menopausal and am not super motivated to get up in the wee hours of the AM to exercise. I do walk my dogs longer, I do park farther from the entrances, I cut my grass, garden etc. As the weight has come off so has my lethargy about exercising. Being 105 lbs lighter, I now enjoy doing yoga, I can do PUSH UPS (yes 60 year old me who hates exercise can do push ups) I do squats (yes the woman who has arthritis in both knees), I can do sit ups and I can go on. At three months out I had no desire to exercise. I was still healing. Things change every day, week, month. Try to rejoice that you have lost almost 40 lbs in less than three months. Enjoy the fact that your clothes are getting big. There are so many little successes that need to be acknowledged. Its not just about getting skinny. You can be skinny and miserable. It will ultimately be your choice.

Truthfully? It may be a pain right now - but when you reach our age and don't have to worry about a monthly cycle - it is wonderful! I guess that is one of the benefits of age.

Just a thought - we owned a gift shop and used to sell a little fabric heart filed with feed corn. We used to tell women to put them in the freezer and use the "boob coolers" to help when a hot flash started. The little heart should fit just right between the boobs and you would be amazed at how well it works. LOL

Sorry guys - I know this girl stuff is tmi - but it is a part of life - LOL

    Hello Mem222

I just read your post about your energy level. WHY are you eating so little? You are at about 7 1/2 months out now. You should be eating almost a regular meal now - just in smaller amounts. No wonder you are tired. I ate almost anything I wanted (and actually occasional ate a small sweet - like a mini candy bar) and guess what? I have still lost 116#s. You need to check out the menu suggestion area of this site: http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/s...t=meal+choices

it will give you a ton of ideas on what others have done to make this work for them. Be careful when you look at these pages because some are further out than you - or are at the beginning. Check the surgery date. The very first DeLeshurz shows sounds wonderful - and includes protein and carbs combined. You will be amazed when you are eating right that not only does your energy increase, but your weight comes off quicker. Each person uses this tool of the sleeve and learns how to feed our bodies and makes this program personal - so keep in mind that you CAN use some of your favorite things - just in smaller amounts and balanced with the protein. Good luck!

    Kathy,
I am eating between 1000 and 1200 calories. I make sure to get in at least 60 g protein - usually around 90. I drink at least 80 oz water. I am just having a hard time with "real food". For example, for lunch I ordered a turkey, am. cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwich on multi grain bread. Took one bite, waited, took a nibble, then ate 1 slice of tomato and almost all the meat...maybe 2 oz of turkey? I was uncomfortable. I KNOW I ate slowly, and I felt relief after I took gas x when I returned to my desk.
I am going to see the nutritionist on Monday because I am so bored with the foods I eat.
    So far today I've had:
Protein bar 210 cal 23 carbs 14 protein
    Yogurt 230 cal 25 carbs 12 protein
    Turkey 2 oz
    Tomato 2 slices
    Bread 2 bites
    1/2 Protein bar 200 cal 23 carbs 16 protein

I usually have a Premier Protein shake for breakfast and it is much fewer carbs, but today I am working out with a trainer so I'm eating more bars.
I saw the PA and she wants me to go for a barium swallow but I am putting it off if I can. I am going to go for bloodwork on Sat. It could also be that my hormones still aren't right, I had been spotting since surgery and had a D & C on 7/10.
    I'll just keep on plugging.
Funny, my husband was sleeved 7/14 and he is now in the puree phase,
I copied him and had refried beans with cheese and sour cream (non-fat) and it was good, but after a few times I'm getting tired of that.
I can't wait until he is eating all foods and starts to cook. He is a chef and is REALLY into his weight loss!

We want it off. We made a surgical alteration and expect more rapid loss than prior "diets". I am trying to prep for this in pre op..patience for the long haul and trust the sleeve will work if I follow the stages. I guess one way to spin this positively (something I am learning to do), is imagine how lucky you are to have been sleeved just in time. Imagine going through peri and post menopause with no tool. Many "always been thin" women gain 10 to 20 lbs afterm mEni pause if they do not change how they eat. You are losing

PS when I am post op, and frustrated one day with my progress, feel free to hold up my own words as a mirror LOL

What can be worse? I had a hysterectomy at age 40. I had emotional ups and downs. Some due to my life and my decades of depression, but hormone loss certainly attributed to that. I am unable to take any HRT because of a blood clotting disorder I have. So I spent 19 years on the diet roller coaster. I ended up at 237 when I started on my sleeve journey. I weighed 170 when I was 40, which was already much higher than the rest of my previous life. So good for you for doing it now. Even if menopause causes you to lose slower, you will definitely be going in the right direction. It sounds like you are considering that your body may not always cooperate with you. It can and will happen though. I was a very slow looser at first. In fact, the first few weeks I lost less than 10 pounds. Then I started losing in chunks, as in 2-4 pounds at a time. I am now at 160 and still doing the same thing. Once I saw that my body was loosing this way, I just accepted it. It sounds like you are going to do the same.

By the way, I'm being sarcastic about what could be worse. I'm giving you oodles of credit for not waiting like I did. Waiting, only wasted years of my precious life. Good luck!
