Default Glad I found the group

I've been trying to decide on whether to have the sleeve or bypass. I have diabetes (type 2) and heard that the bypass is a near cure because of the way it rewires your body to process sugar and produce insulin. However, the sleeve seems so much easier in some ways to adjust to.

I am joining this group to gather information on 'real life' experiences after the sleeve in general. Any experiences with diabetes 2 after the sleeve will also be helpful.

I look forward to offering support to others once I am further in my journey.

    Thank you!

I haven't had the sleeve yet, but have been actively researching it for 3-4 years now. I was just starting the process back in 2013, but ended up being pregnant with my first baby :P I had gestational diabetes and now have diabetes and have to take metaformin. My nutritionist and doctor assure me that my diabetes will go away shortly after getting the sleeve. So here's what I know. The bypass surgery has a LOT of cons and many many people end up regaining all of their weight back or have to deal with the whole dumping syndrome. My bariatric surgeon is pretty cool and very direct, which I like. He admitted to being completely again the sleeve when it first came out and now it's by far the surgery he suggests to patients. He says it's like a "one size fits all" sort of deal and strove to be extremely good at his job.
I especially like that the sleeve surgery gets rid of the stretchy part of the stomach as well as that pesky hunger hormone. I don't know about you, but that's what always ruins my chances of weight loss success - hunger. Feel free to ask any questions on this site, because it's full of knowledge!
