Just getting started!!!

Hi my name is Donna and Im just getting started on my journey. I talked with my PCM last week about the gastric sleeve and we both think it sounds like a good idea. Im scheduled for a sleep study on 8/5/15 to see if I have any sleep apnea which my doctor feels sure I do because I snore most nights but not every night. I have tricare prime so I am going to try to have my surgery at Keesler AFB which is closest to me. (I live in Pearl River Louisiana) I first have to find a doctor who does the surgery there so that is one of the questions that I have. Has anyone had surgery at Keesler and if so what doctor did you use? Im really excited about this and nervous at the same time. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Just like those of us who went to Mexico you will have to research each doctor. Usually through your insurance company they will have a list of Bariatric surgeons. From this list you can google each doctor and read about them, where they went to school and how long they have been doing the procedure and a lot of times you can find any negative feeback they might have.

Well I did my Nicotine test yesterday 3-14-16 and Im assuming that I passed it cause they called and scheduled my Psych Eval for 4-8-16. I was worried about it cause when I quit smoking I did it cold turkey to start. I ran into a rough patch about 3 weeks ago and started the gum and then 2 weeks later found out that it would cause me to fail the test. I was so worried that I had wasted 3 months. They called me this morning to schdule the Psych Eval and I was so excited!!! Im that much closer to a surgery date!! I have to do another consult with the dietician and some blood work before surgery and I believe thats it. Thanks to everyone who has sent welcome messages to me. I havent responed to everyone but I have read them. Im just so excited right now, hope nothing busts this bubble today!!!

more good news...They called to schedule my second nutrition class!! Boy things are really moving along now.

Well nutrition class went well except they put me on a 1200cal. Diet that I start tomorrow. I figure if I space my foods out daily for like every few hours or so I will do ok. I found a diet drink that I can tolerate. Crystal light peach mango tea. Its actually not bad. My 14 year old likes it to. lol I also have to start exercising so walking begins tomorrow as well. I figure I will start out with 15 min. and work up. And I may as well start as soon as I get home from taking him to school in the mornings since I will already be up. Surgery date is getting closer and closer. Cant wait till I actually get my surgery date. My surgeon is on maternaty leave at the moment.

started my 1200 cal diet today. My brain keeps telling me Im hungry but I know Im not. Im keeping a water bottle beside me to help. My husband wants to go out tonight for dinner so Ive saved 500 calories for dinner this evening. I know what I can and cant have so I should be ok. Did my 15 min of walking this morning after taking the kid to school and boy am I out of shape. I was so out of breath afterwards that I was ashamed of myself. No matter, just makes me wanna keep on keeping on.
