Wow, oh wow! I just did one of *those* classes at my gym -- where I was the oldest person in the room but (shockingly) did not die. Nor was I the fattest. That's got to be a first.
Here's how the class is described at my gym:
Body Pump
"The original barbell class from Les Mills that builds strength, tones, and burns up to 560 calories per class. Come see what all the talk is about. All abilities can do this class!"
Needless to say, most people in the class looked like they are on this year's national cheerleading championship team. Damn, those girls have some big, tight booties! (I was on the back row and had a good view of everyone's ass.)
The thing that surprised me was that I figured out how to modify the lunges and squats so I didn't hurt my knees. I'd thought my own butt work days were over. But maybe not. I think I'm going back next week.
