I've had something similar off and on for the past couple of years- severe Charlie horses I suppose is what they are. My rheumatologist put me on magnesium oxide and that seems to help. I still get them occasionally, but not every night like I was.
See your doctor and explain what's going on, and see what they can do to help- you shouldn't have to deal with it

See your Dr...I have had them for many years pre surgery. For my case it was lack of potassium.

Might be your potassium is out of whack.

Oh my gosh, I just started having them. I had them prior to surgery and the Dr. Had me drink tonic water because it was so high in potassium ; bananas did nothing for me. Now that I can't drink the tonic water, I take a tsp of mustard; that seems to help.

I had them after surgery as well. My doctor told me to take a magnesium tablet of 250 milligrams and eat a banana every day. He told me, if the cramps don't stop then increase the magnesium by 50mg every week until it stops. I now take a 400mg daily once a day and havent had any problems since. Your body will not like it for the first week. You may have a small bout of diarrhea but than it will adjust. I haven't had cramps of any kind in two years.

Use magnesium malate or magnesium glycinate. They absorb better. My hubby had leg cramps and increased his magnesium. The cramps went away and stay away as long as he takes magnesium. Most people are deficient in magnesium.

Ditto to what everyone else said and make sure you're well hydrated, also try support socks at night, hot baths and stretching.

You are showing signs of dehydration. You need to increase your liquids. Drink more water and sports drinks like Powerade zero or a low calorie Gatorade. This will help boost your electrolytes and magnesium. Give it a try, this should help.
