    Default Weight loss?

Hello! I just had weight loss surgery, the sleeve, on wednesday of this week (6/17) and I was just wondering when most of you started seeing weight loss begin? I am still very swollen in my stomach and I have been getting liquids in (water, no sugar added apple juice, zero gatorade, and chicken broth) and I was just wondering when I might see some weight leave? I have been exercising about 30-40min of walking a day as well. Thanks!

First of all, I'm glad you got through your surgery okay! You cannot compare your losses to others as a reference point. Some of us have obstinate metabolisms whereas other people see the pounds melt off without any effort.

Personally, I only weighed myself once a week during the early days of my sleeve. I'm only two months out, and nowadays I only weigh in once a month on the same day each month. Daily weights did nothing for me but drove me batshit crazy because I got to see the day-to-day fluctuations of my weight.

I lost 8 pounds during the first post-op week, then 1 pound in the second post-op week, then nothing during the third post-op week. As you can tell, I had hit that notorious three-week stall. The stall eventually broke and I lost a total of 15 pounds during the first 30 days of post-sleeved life.

If you encounter a stall, increase your water intake and protein grams. I know it sounds counter-intuitive to consume more when you aren't losing, but increasing your caloric and fluid intake reassures your body that you will not starve it. Good luck!

Congratulations. Now throw your scale away. The weight will start to fall off fast. You will have your stalls. Do not worry about them. That is your body adjusting. Keep walking, drinking, and getting your protein in.
