    Default Help or advice?!

Hello! I was wondering if you have any advice. I have been following the liquid diet strictly (staying around 700-750) calories a day of protein shakes with a piece of fruit a day. I have only lost 3 pounds My doctor wants me at 292 with clothes obviously and right now without clothes I'm at 299.2. My surgery is on Wednesday and I don't know what to do because my weight won't budge. I don't want my surgery to be cancelled!

Um, I am on the liquid diet and am at my 25th day on it. My surgery is on Tuesday. I am shocked that you are eating fruit as that makes me hungry. On my liquid diet from my doctor I am allowed no sugar. Here is my plan; 1 protein drink breakfast, lunch and after dinner. Mid-morning, afternoon I get a sugar free jello. Dinner is one protein (chicken, turkey or fish) size of deck of cards and two cups of vegs (no peas, potatoes, corn or beans). Following the Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) on average I lost a pound a day. The big problem was keep moving. On my day offs I kind of would loaf around the house and noticed I wouldn't lose any weight. Well, you don't move you don't lose. My big lesson learned.

    I hope it helps.

You may want to cut out the fruit and check the carbs in your protein drinks. Some call themselves protein meal replacements but are actually loaded with carbs. Look for 20-30g protein and less than 5g carbs. I did 3 protein shakes and unlimited leafy green veggies (spinach, kale, lettuce, brussel sprouts, etc) only for 16 days and lost 22 pounds. (Almost 10% of my total weight)

Make sure you get your fluid in daily at least 64 ounces.

Thanks for all the replies! My doctor's diet he says to follow the week prior to surgery consists of 3 Premier Protein shakes (low carb, no sugar, low fat) and a lean cuisine dinner or a fruit like an apple per day. I am going to try just doing the 3 shakes a day. I drink 74.4 oz of ice water a day (I have a jug that measures that) so I am getting plenty of fluids. I also walk a mile a day. I started the liquid diet a few weeks ago because I was a few pounds above what I weighed at my original consultation. My doctor determines if I can have surgery based on weight lost from my initial consultation back in December which was 302.6. I am now at 299.2 so I'm just nervous! Thanks so much again! *fingers crossed*
