I think being nervous is normal at this point but I'm also excited to get going on this journey

I hope that you are doing well post-op! I have my sleeve next week 8/10, and have been a little concerned about the negative press in regards to Dr. Almanza. I have heard nothing but the best from several of my co-workers (who are nurses) about Dr. A and his staff, and after talking to WLA staff I have come to the realization that these negative issues stem from disgruntled individuals that no longer work for Dr. A. So with that being said, I am very anxious about my upcoming surgery, but excited about my re-birthday on the 10th. Do you have any suggestions for me going forward?

Yes. Cuz that's WLA rebuttal. Let's take the fact that 2 ex employees came forward. How about myself and 16 other people who have come forward with complications. Serious complications? Are we fake? Cuz I been on this forum since before my surgery, excited and nervous but "well researched" since at that time there was nothing negative out there.
Read my post on the group forum to make a REALLY WELL INFORMED DECISION one that you are WILLING TO RISK YOUR LIFE FOR!
I'm just saying I'm happy for those who have had a successful Journey.
But for people like myself, o have a hole in my stomach (internally). I'm a patient care coordinator and nursing student, if I can go back in time, I would have never made the decision to go.

They'll most likely blame us for not following "post op instructions/diet"
I never even had the opportunity to progress in my deit.
I was hospitalized 7 days post op (4 are spent in Mexico)
I followed all pre op and post op instructions.
I was put under anesthesia in the freaking hallway of the Operating floor, without being attached to an oxygen monitor or bp monitor at the same time that I met the anesthesiologist.... So if you think that's "normal" there's something wrong.

I am AMAZED that with SO many great doctors in Mexico who you literally can find not a single complaint or horror story about that ANYONE would ever continue to book with Dr. Almanza! Just wanted to put this out there for anyone who is in the research phase. Thankfully those who had positive experiences survived without incident (so far) though seriously, there are countless patients out there willing to speak out against this man...why would you chance it with so many other great options?

Oh my gosh Kaychie. I never saw this post until now. Being put under with no monitoring - I don't care how quickly they wheeled you into the OR or hooked you up to proper monitoring after the fact. It just isn't done that way. As a nurse who worked doing conscious sedation (a lot less risky than general anesthesia) I would never, never in a million years have started a procedure without having my patient fully hooked up to monitoring. This is how you lose patients, by not following the safety guidelines and playing fast & loose.

I was wondering how did you find the hole in your stomach if they did a leak test and they say that they give you the xray of it....how long after you returned to the states was the hole found? Also regardless of him being in another country I'm sure you could've tried to find a way to seek legal action. All other patients that I've seen on this forum for the last 2-3yrs have had great successful journeys but going into any surgery there's gonna be the 1-20%-ers that's just a fact and just because not a lot of patients report their complications doesn't mean that the surgeons dont make mistakes.
