    Default Type 2 Diabetes

I've got surgery scheduled for December, but my annual physical this month shows an AC1 level of 9%. Type 2 Diabetes!

I return to my PCP to discuss my options in June.

I only wish I'd realized surgery was an option earlier.

    Bummer.

I've had Type 2 diabetes for over 20 years and, since having surgery in February, my numbers are great. I chose the insulin route rather than the oral meds and I've only had to take insulin now just a few times in the past months. No guarantees, obviously, but I know there are others here who have had good progress with this as well.

Ive had it for 6 years and my PCP is confident once I have the surgery, I wont have to be on medication at all...of course she offers no guarantees, but I've started eating better and exercising 6 days a week and I"ve been able to reduce my Metformin considerably. Don't wait for the surgery to start being healthier. Walk, cut down on carbs and sweets and do what you can now, it will make the transition a lot easier. Type 2 is something YOU can control and improve. My numbers have been great since I joined Planet Fitness (10 bucks a month) and I enjoy it and feel so much better physically. Try not to let it get you down, depression and diabtetes is very common, do something NOW and be proactive, you will be glad you did.
Best of luck and if you have any questions...feel free to inbox me.

I had surgery 3 months ago. Since then I've dropped about 40 lbs. But the biggest thing is that I've been able to stop all my diabetes meds (Type 2). This was the main reason I did the surgery. I think the weight loss mixed with the no sugar diet is the trick.

I had the sleeve one week ago and my sugars are running around 200, but pretty stable. How long did it take before you seen the numbers to start dropping?

for me it improved a bit every week. took a month or two before i felt consistently in 'normal' ranges without any meds.

i think it more depends on weight loss and how resistant your body was to insulin. give it some time

hope everything will be ok. I'm type 2 too. be careful with your sugar and food you take in. there are some kinds of food good for diabetic patients such as: cinamon, strawberry,... after surgery, it takes time to recover, eating is important, choose food that good for your condition.

I heard that guava can help reduce the diabete. You might try to consume guava or make guava juice
