Talk With My Parents

I am just starting my journey of researching the sleeves and have two consultations set up with the two top South Jersey docs. I wanted to make sure I had some support so first I talked to my boyfriend, and then a good friend who was sleeved like a year ago with one of the docs i'm seeing.

I wanted to tell my parents but I wasnt sure how they would react. In general it seems like people are either really supportive or really judgmental. But I happened to be over their house today and I decided to bring it up and let them know that I wanted them to be in on the journey from the beginning and that I had just started. I am happy to report that they were very receptive to the idea. I'm 29, 5'3 and 285 pounds and they have been concerned about my health for a long time. I know they probably wish that I could do it on my own (and so do I) but i'm getting past the guilt of that and realizing that its time to do something so I can live my damn life.

Coincidentally my brother came over later and was talking about proposing to his girlfriend and I kept thinking how great it would be to have dropped a lot of weight by then and be proud looking at the pictures of myself at their wedding.

Where about in south Jersey? I used Dr. kakkilaya out of Salem. Awesome. Can't say enough good things about him.

Hey! I grew up in Galloway but now I live in Vineland. The two doctors that were recommended to me were Onopchenko w/ Atlanticare and Attia w/ Inspira in Cumberland County. Where are the surgeries performed in Salem? Thank you so much for the recommendation!

I was actually surprised with how many people supported me during this journey..times have changed, people are becoming aware of health..and i found that the people i thought wouldnt support me, actually did..
