    Question Surgery Scheduled

    Hi,
So my surgery is scheduled for 6/3 and I'm trying to be as prepared as possible. I am a mom to 2 kids (11 & 5), and I work full time, so I need to know -
    1. What do you wish you knew before that you didn't know?
    2. What is the best advice you can give me for the weeks following surgery?
    3. What are your best tips to share?
I'm more than a little "type A", so I really appreciate any feedback you can offer!
    Thank you!
    -Trixiecat

I will try to answer #1: the answer is....most of your hunger is head hunger, so keep busy or chew gum or eat SF jello. Not in the beginning, as you need all that nourishment! Keep ALL the foods that trigger you out of the house. My trigger foods, which are common for most people are: cookies, ice cream, cake, chips and crackers. But I'm going to a baby birthday party this weekend and will be eating some cake. I just don't buy it for myself. I know better! And, if you have little kids, just start feeding them healthy foods. They don't need it, either, and you won't stress so much. Can you imagine if they left half a cookie? What a waste, right? Have your husband get some cookies for the kids, leave the house, and tell him to save you ONE as a reward!

"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2

I really did a lot of reading the good and the bad and the ugly about the sleeve. There wasn't many things I hadn't heard of, by the time I had the surgery, and I was pleasantly surprised when I got thru the surgery and I didn't have the bad or the ugly! Mine had been perfect! I am so glad I did this! Read anything on the forum, or ask anything... although everyone is different, there are a lot of similarities! Welcome to our little family!

Get ready to welcome change into your life.

The sleeve will make a lot of those changes possible. But you have to make the changes yourself.

A year from now you will NOT BELIEVE how much better you will feel.

    Very best to you.
