Default Yes There Are Stupid Questions, and This Might Be One Of Them

Good Day Everybody. I need your thoughts and advice, I was sleeved on Oct 31, 2013. I weighed 320 pounds on my surgery day....fast forward to today I am currently 185. I have never had a stall, and I eat basically like a normal person. I have introduce carbs (whole grains, fruit etc) back into my diet, but I refuse to bring any sugar back in, as for me it is like heroin. Any suggestions on how to stop the weight loss, or basically maintain where I am at. I am 6'1, and I am looking a little too thin (In my wildest dreams I thought I would never say that). Any suggestions would be truly appreciated...

Maybe add some good carbs. I have a Bosch bread mixer and make my own bread. Also have a wheat grinder, so use whole wheat flour. But I can add so many other nutritious grains to it, and also a little molasses. Just an idea. I'm only a year out.

And I wouldn't call that a stupid question. That's a very good question!

I am also at a point where I don't want to lose more weight. I have been experimenting with adding more meals throughout the day to increase my calorie intake. So far, I haven't lost (or gained) weight in the past two weeks so I'm happy! For example, I would eat half of my lunch and then I would have the other half for dinner. Now, I have been having the other half of my lunch around 3pm and then having dinner at 6/7.

It is NOT a stupid question! And congrats.

I just don't have any good answers for you, since I only recently reached goal. Ask me in 6 months.

The idea of adding another mini-meal or two sounds like a plan to try out.

Find out what your BMR is which is the number of calories you burn just for normal daily function (does not include exercise). This is the number you have to hit every day to maintain your current weight. The days you exercise you will need to add more calories in to compensate for the calories lost.
My weight at start of my 2 week pre-op diet was 232
My weight on the morning of surgery was 221

The bread issue ... yes, it can cause issues, but early on. And bread toasted is a great way to go. Of course, the more whole grain the bread, the more nutritious and restrictive that bread will be.

For me, bread can be, ahem, problematic in that I really love it. So I eat it sparingly.

Eventually (many months hence), you should be able to eat anything out there. Or almost anything out there, since there are, as in all things, individual differences. For example, this week (nearly 9 months post-op) I've eaten about 5 salads and really tolerated them well. So delicious and good for me! I certainly couldn't have done that 2 - 4 - even 6 months post-op.

Back to the OP ..... introduce more good fats to slow down the weight loss. Olive oil as a dressing on salads, avocados, nuts as snacks, full cream milk, oily fish. By far the easiest way to increase your caloric intake without upping carbs.
