Post How was your hospital stay after your SLEEVE surgery. This is my story

my experience in the hospital after my surgery

I guess I wanted to write this all down so others can see and maybe able to help themselfs before they go in to surgery.

I was sleeping alot ofter my surgery only to woken up to take my vital signs which really doesnt make sense because I think they can pretty much check your blood pressure while you sleep but what ever. And this was pretty much done every 4 hours Durig the Day & NIGHT!

So I wake up Nausated and began to throw up and the nurse comes in and assists me and helps me get threw the nausea moment & then presses the Pain medication clicker for me and then begins a even worse cycle for me of vomiting and being given anti nausea shots then sleepy time again. and then wake up and it all starts over again.

I choose to allow phone calls and OMG that was a huge mistake cause it seem everytime I went to the bathroom or was on my walk the phone started ringing. Or when your finally falling asleep and comfortable RING RING RING.. Ughh.

(( MY mistake because I told EVERYONE I was having surgery and even gave them the phone number!))

My loved one god LOVE them showed up to visit me as I was going threw nausea/vomiting They would sit there and stare and try to rub me/ and make me feel better but all I wanted was to be left alone.

(( My Husband, Son, Cousin and best friend drive an hour to visit and I am pukeing and just wanting everyone to go away))

The nurses were persistant, helpful and nice. But I was ready to go home. I wanted to have uninterupted sleep.
(( I swear I was having the hardest time being comfortable but I understand they were only doing there job!))

I did take the time to meet and chat with other Bariatric patients which was really cool. Infact I met someone who had Gastic Bypass surgery in 1997 he started off at 500 pounds and now only weighed like 170 pounds. He looked great and just wanted to come in and introduce him self to me and tell me congratulations and I can do it.

When I left the hosptial I was excited and Happy that I did it and was on my way home.

When I got home, I turned the ringer off, climbed in to bed and went to sleep!

Maybe I am Moody, whiney or bitchy but I am sure everyone had different experiences but If I can help someone else have a better hospital stay then I did. I hope this info helps

Here's a tip for the about-to-be-sleeved: Don't hook up the hospital phone. Take your cell phone with you. Turn the ringer off. Then, when you're feeling up to it, you can see who left you messages and return calls when YOU want.

And I had no nausea and no vomiting. I was one of the lucky ones, but I'm not alone.

Rubbie, congratulations to you, and I hope you feel better every day! It will get easier!
    Diane
