oh yes, we are out here! i am 60, and had my sleeve done in March of this year..
it is great! It definately took some time for me to heal..although others on this board were super quick..and now and then i still need a nap..
but it has been great!! my bday is in September and I know my 61 I will look a lot different!! (already do!)
it is really a great choice..congrats!
If all goes smoothly, and you don't have a very physically tiring job, no. If you do lots of walking and moving around you may find yourself tired. Don't expect too much, and prepare your workplace for you just being a little slower for the first couple of weeks. I was quite tired for a few weeks.
I was sleeved right after my 60th birthday. I took 2 weeks off, not because I couldn't go back due to the surgery, I took off so I could learn how to eat and drink with my new stomach. I was cleaning out my cabinets by the middle of the first week. I had all kinds of energy. That is always what would happen when I cut out all the sugar and simple carbs I consumed on a daily basis. I have lost half over 1/2 of me. I always blamed menopause on the weight gain. Well, I think I blew that belief out the water. I don't have that super energy now, but I have much more than I used to.
69 here.

I am 63 and looking forward to this journey, I will have surgery on 5/29. I have dieted, exercised and lost weight only to regain what I lost and then some, I know this is not a fix all in my life but with this I will take the first step in making changes in my life.
I'm 64, but had it done at 63.
"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
I had mine done a few weeks after turning 64, had no problems, took a month off because I have loads of sick time, but I could have gone back in 2 weeks. I had so much energy when I got home, I cleaned out all the cabinets & drawers. Just like back in the days when the Doc would give you those great diet pills.....
Had my sleeve done July 23rd 2014. I am 66. My only problems were with severe constipation two times otherwise just a breeze. I work for FedEx Express and had no problems going back to work but I did take off for six weeks and baby myself while my sleeve was healing.
Hi There! I had my Gastric Sleeve in 2012 when I was 55. 2 weeks ago I had a revision from the gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass (I am now 58). You will do well. I felt better after my surgery then I did before I lost the weight. Good luck to you and enjoy your sleeve!!!
