please darlin do more research.
i would never recommend this man. I had the bEST... dr. Aceves who has unfortunately passed. Almanza did my 'resleeve'.. what a JOKE... im scarred beyond recognition... NO weight loss, no hunger depletion... I KNOW what to expect and I dont know what the hell he did, but it was NOTHING to my stomach! all he talks about is him him him, with his 6 pack abs and you'll never see him again... its an in and out, 8 patients a day... he never talks to you again. the staff promises big promises and when he blunders, they blame your MEDS!! This was my experience. Nothing warm and caring about him at all.
Hi Popsicle-
I am sorry you experienced regain. I can't imagine moving so far away and taking care of my aging parents. I personally could not do it. I would have had to let them get other sorts of assistance. My parents would never want me to stop my life to take care of them and ruin my own. They have told me that themselves as they would never get over the guilt. i am SO sorry and I say Bless you for doing that it's so sweet but you can't forget yourself and your own happiness . I hope you can go back to AK soon. You have so much life left to enjoy. Try to make the best of it if you can and make some time for yourself. You can get assistance from organizations to come in and help you take care of your parents for relief. They have relief programs available so that you can get back to yourself. you should take care of YOU too and not just them.
What month and year did you have your resleeve surgery?
Almanza didn't do my surgery. A surgeon in Missouri did. So I have no Almanza ax to grind.
From time to time people show up here with no or few prior posts to warn us about how awful a specific Mexican surgeon is. And they go on and on and on. Post after post.
I suspect that most of these people are sales people / coordinators / brokers for other Mexican surgeons.
You see this phenomenon on all WLS forums.

I've never heard of you, never seen any posts from you so, for me, you have no credibility on this board. We had a little bitch fight on here several months ago started by someone who used to work for one surgeon and changed jobs and got underpaid and blah, blah, blah.....
In the end, two very immature and idiotic people were carrying out a very private issue on a public message board and using surgeons and their practices as fodder for their cannons. Made themselves look like complete asses.
Go away.
Thank you tinman and Ann. I was thinking the same thing. Someone who "works" for another Dr. Just scares people like me that are about to go under the knife by Dr A. But I am sticking to my decision and doing it. And she has no pictures and just joined like 2 days ago and has only done Almanza bashing.
I'm going to stick with Almanza as well. I did take the advice of popcicle530 and went to obesityhelp.com to see what that site had to say about him. The only review on there for Almanza was exactly what popcicle530 had written on this site, but the person was named still_chubby. That leads me to believe this is a possible "smear campaign". I've done a lot of research on Almanza, as well as know people personally who have gone to him, and have only found positive things. All surgery has risk, but I do believe he's the right surgeon for me.
I am scheduled to have VGS on 5/29 and posts like this always make me a little uneasy when I read them. However, I have 3 friends in the same town I live in who have had VGS by Dr. Almanza in the last 8 months, two of these are RNs. All three have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Almanza and the results of their surgery. All are losing weight and look amazing. So I for one am staying on course and having my surgery done by Dr. Almanza as scheduled.
This suspect post actually has an issue that should be addressed.
Weightloss surgery will not cure your depression. If you experience depression, that becomes more and more problematic seek the help of a licensed mental health professional BEFORE you seek surgical solutions to an emotional issue. In the case of caregiver burnout which is real (I have been living this for the past several years. Its one of the reasons I love gardening) there are organizations and online support groups that one can go to for help and advice. The same way this forum was found online, caregiver support groups can be found as well.
If I were to believe the above post is real, I would have suggested that this person seek help from counselors and support groups before thinking that a resleeve is the answer when depression is the actual problem.
