I am in west LA, but am going out of state for my surgery. Would love to meet up with people locally?

I am in Los Angeles - like 20 minutes from West Los Angeles. I am getting my surgery done at Kaiser ( My HMO) at their West Los Angeles facility. I will probably be getting the surgery done in Decemember. I am finished with all my classes, all the lab work, and now I'm just waiting to meet up with the surgeon. I am going to NY to visit family for Thanksgiving and don't want to get the surgery done until after my trip. Although, I was told by the person giving the class.."Wouldn't I like to be healthy when I visited during Thanksgiving?" ....and give up my last Thanksgiving meal? Not a chance. LOL. I wouldn't want to be on a liquid diet during that meal, okay? I think that would be tough. So, I figure the following month should be okay. Hello, I'm in West Los Angeles. I'm looking into having my surgery performed by Dr. Korman at LA Bariatrics. Allisharb, weren't you also considering Dr. Korman? Why did you decide to go out of state?

Hi mbinla,
I was originally going to have the lap band with Dr Korman, but then I changed my mind and wanted the sleeve, but my insurance doesn't yet cover the sleeve (blue shield) and Dr Korman's cash price is $20,000 (ouch) my new Dr is Dr Umbach and his price is $10,400

Have you booked your surgery? Where are you at in the process?
