Disney, The good , the bad and the ugly!!

Completed the Disney 5 K !!! This has been my goal for the last 8 months ...
The name of the Run was "Frozen" ... And it was the coldest day of the year .. 32 degrees , wind chill about 27..
Not the weather I expected so I wore lots of layers.
The BAD .... The company of our trainer from the Bariatric program was one sponsors . They had the body analyzes scale... He did mine .I am at goal weight BUT he said that I still have to much body fat . Still need to loss more weight and build more muscle .
I was very disappointed because I walk /run atleast 5 days a week and I do an excercise class 2-3 days a week .He said I still need to up things ... Said Walking / running burns fat but does not build any muscle ....
I am expecting my trainer will tell me the same thing .
That made me upset because I thought I was doing well!

You my dear are a success!!! Do not let what others say cause you to doubt this! You had several big goals for yourself and you met them! You have done very very well! What you have been doing was great because it got you to your goals! I think the wording "up things" might be discouraging and it doesn't validate all the great work you've been doing. Let's rephrase it and say let's build on what you've been doing. Instead of feeling like you haven't been doing enough, perhaps you can see this as an opportunity to set new goals. You can take some of that energy you've been using to get you to a successful Disney run and put it toward strength building. I think you've been doing great and you deserve to feel wonderful and successful about your run!!! With your determination, I feel sure you'll do well meeting your new goals! Keep up the good work!

Actually the trainer circle "high risk " do to body fat !
This guy may be taking the job thatI Bariatric trainer has . My friend that has been training me was upset at him . Said "she does something evsryday .. Trainer said "if she continues what she is doing she should maintain but she needs to "step it up to build more muscle And get rid of some of the body fat!"

You are doing great! I say trainer, shmainer- No, really, the trainer may have useful advice, but please do not beat yourself up over this- 5-K??? That is terrific, not to mention meeting so many of your goals. Good for you, and keep up the good work. I hope you're proud of yourself, because you've earned that.

Aqua, I just want to say how so very happy I am to have met you here. You have been one of my biggest inspirations. Your dedication to physical fitness and improving your health has motivated me to become more fit.

You are one of my heroes and have helped me see what I can do if I try.

Whether (or not) you and I and all of us should do strengthening exercises is completely irrelevant to the much more important FACT of how far you have come in the last year and how healthy and vital and happy you are these days.

Do not let anyone rain on your parade, for the Disney 5K was indeed YOUR parade.

Ann's right. And I've been thinking about your post. Some of us here aren't 20 anymore. We need a little weight to keep our shape. Especially in our faces! There's more to life than the scale, the fat caliper, the BMI chart or the opinion of some weight-trainer kid! I'm sure you're in very good health, and you look lovely. THAT'S ALL YOU NEED. (I'm yelling).

I don't exercise. I have to start. I'll think of something...

My mum's cancer specialist said the fact that she carries extra weight is good because she's got reserves while she goes through cancer treatment.

This "trainer" has some bloody fantasy ideal in mind. Forget what he says. What we need to focus on as a comparison point is where we've come from - not some non-realistic ideal.

If he wants to see "high risk due to body fat" he wants to have met you (or me, or any of us) at the start of this journey. You are NOT HIGH RISK - you can see that just by looking at you.

Don't let this detract from the achievement of finishing the 5k (and in a cute skirt too ). It's an amazing achievement.

It really sticks in my craw the way that some people like this guy manages to completely miss the point and trigger off insecurities and fears that we are bound to have given our histories.

You are great. You've done great. The service you've done for your health by having this surgery is nothing short of a miracle. Remember that!!

That reminds me of the kid that studied so very hard for his final exam, & so proudly showed the grade to his Dad.... Dad said" this is only an "A", what happened to A+? I guess one could say " Don"t rain on my parade", But I prefer "piss up a rope". You go girl!

Mar who has has been training me .. Runs /walks everyday ..plays softball 3 times a week and does our excercise class 3 days a week.. He , also told her she had too much "body fat " but her names were a bit lower than mine . He told us "running does not build muscle ."
Mar told him we were in our 60's .We were not 20 or 30 years old any more .Told him we were both very active for our age.
But basiclyhe said we were doi g "the wrong things ." My question is why is this guy at a health fair for runners , if he does of think running the warty odor excercise or atleast one of the good ones.
